Accessible off highway!

Best Western Delta Inn

We spotted this hotel off the highway in Effingham and decided to stop for the night. We liked that it was easily seen from the highway and convenient. The room was standard and clean but most importantly, the bedding was was comfortable! They accepted pets for a modest price and any discounts such as AAA or AARP or military discounts will help to give some additional savings. Breakfast is served daily at 7 daily and checkout at noon which is nice for those who would like to sleep in a bit longer from the road. The parking lot was well lit with ample areas to walk your furry ones :). The hallways to the room were also well lit and appeared clean that I admired. There were many places to choose for dine in or take out close by and access to petrol stations as well

Relaxing and Pet Friendly, Avoid Cabin 7

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

We had a restful stay on Drummond Island at the Yacht Haven Cottages and would consider staying with them on our next stay with a few takeaways from this trip. Perhaps this may help you as well in your selection of cabins hopefully.

- We were assigned Cabin 7 that practically had no privacy as the interior could be seen from others outside from the patio slider on the road that passed our unit
- The main door that opens to the cabin opens to the road that is also the entry and exit to all the other cabins so we would hear incoming and outgoing traffic.
- The rear entry that is from the kitchen also faces the road that leads to the other units that gives a clear view in our kitchen and living room area
- The 2 bedrooms and bathroom also have a clear view inside the other guests on the hill above us looking directly down. I caught someone looking down at me in the bathroom while peeing one morning while the window was open to vent the room.

The clerk pitched this unit as one on sale and now we understood why this may have been - it's less desirable due to the reasons I pointed. I will definitely stay with them again BUT now I have better layout of the premises, I would opt for another unit directly on the waterfront or hillside looking down. The unit we were assigned was poorly constructed because you have no privacy.

Inside the unit had a dated feel that was clean and the bedding was comfortable and wifi was fairly good. The TV options were not helpful as the screen was grainy so having some option for entertainment may help if you have kids along on your trip. Ive attached a few pics for reference to give you an idea and trust this will help you solidify your decision on where to stay or perhaps a better cabin than the one I was assigned. All the others were either waterfront or hilltop view but 7 was definitely not desirable. They are pet friendly and the price is reasonable. Plenty of areas to walk your little ones as well.

Nice facelift, but dated on the inside

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mattoon an IHG Hotel

At first glance, I thought this was a new hotel until we checked in and realized it felt like an older building that was given a facelift on the outside. It was however convenient to the interstate and a couple places to eat within walking distance. My 2 dogs were changed a flat fee of $25 for the night. Ample grass to walk the little ones, no poop bags provided though. Places I saw close by within walking distance next to hotel if you care to know: Starbucks, Cracker Barrell, Taco Bell, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jersey Mikes
Wendys, McDonalds. Convenient off the highway and bedding was comfortable.

Favorite place to take my boys for lunch

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar

I love Lazy Dog when I take my boys to lunch. They have a nice patio outside when the weather is favorable. They offer my dogs water bowl (some restaurants have a main waterfowl which I do not like) and a menu for your furry ones as well. I am always on the look out if I am out of town and definite recommend.

Comfortable Rooms And Pet Friendly!

Comfort Suites Mount Vernon

I ranged the Comfort Suites from the highway as we approach Mt Vernon and needed a place for the night. The rates were affordable and cost for pet is $25 one time change per day for my two dogs (flat rate for all pets per night).

The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious for my dogs and we were able to move about without bumping into each other. Highly recommend if you are traveling off highway 57.

Pet friendly Hotel with easy access off hwy from Crossings!

Holiday Inn Express Mackinaw City an IHG Hotel

We stayed here for one night with our dogs. The located is right off the highway by the Macknaw Bridge and across from the Crossings so restaurants and stores are fairly close. We opted for the disabled rooms for more space because we have the dogs and it was esp the bathroom that was a room in itself!

The hotel offered a to-go bag which is nice due to COVID and meals are not served anymore. The bed was very comfortable. We had two queen beds each with 4 comfortable pillows! I would highly recommend if youre in the area and looking for accommodations with comfortable beds or with your furry friend so they may be comfortable.

Tip- If traveling with pets, rooms are only on ground floors only and closer to side doors for walking dogs highly recommend.

Outdoor seating perfect for your pets

Scalawags

Small area but enough to enjoy a meal while youre with your pets in the Crossings area. I would suggest bring your own water for your furry ones otherwise they will offer you a main drinking bowl that other dogs use.

Motel 6 accommodation allow pets!

Seasons Inn Traverse City

We stayed at Seasons Inn during a time when prices are at its peak (summer) but due to COVID and services reduced, the prices are more attractive for travelers seeking budget accommodations. The location is across from the bay where the nicer hotels are but we did not mind because there were restaurants and store was within walking distance.

The rooms are basic and dated but I like the laminate flooring for safety and cleanliness to the eyes. It appears the front desk operator who I think is the manager is also housekeeping that may explain the sign at the front desk to dial for assistance. They do not serve meals at this time (due to COVID) but we came prepared with our own food and water. Pets are allowed at $5 bucks each daily which I thought was a great value!

If you are looking for a place to sleep because beds are comfortable, this will suffice while in town. I will agree with most though that the toilet was too small and sits low to the ground. For the guys, you may have trouble sitting and keeping the boys pointing south like I did if you get my drift. Other than that, its clean enough to work for us with the dogs. Note- the hallways may smell of weed in case that bothers you.

Allow pets on patio but thats about it

Red Mesa Grill

I visited Mesa Grill and while I enjoyed the drinks, the food didn't excite me. They do allow pets but while dining in the sun because they didn't offer water for my dogs nor did they offer any options on the menu like brown rice and chicken etc or biscuits so that I wasn't exactly wowed there. It was close to my hotel and within walking distance but I wasn't really impressed sitting in the sunny patio to eat. my meal.
