Great Location -Super Convenient

Holiday Inn Express Bellingham an IHG Hotel

If you’re looking for something off the beaten track this is not it.

If you want something with good, comfortable rooms, close to tons of stores and dog parks look no further. There’s even a vet surgery right next door (though hopefully no-one would ever need it).

We had a nice room, with comfortable beds, on the second floor. We did not hear any noise from the floor above. Due to COVID there was no sit-down breakfast. You pick it up and take it back to your room. Breakfast orders are taken the day before.

LOTS of stores and restaurants within walking distance and Bellis Fair is a 5 minute car ride. Check out the nearby Chuckanut brew pub. It’s dog friendly and the foos is good.

At least 3 dog parks within 5 miles.

Would definitely stay here again.

Expensive For What You Get

Adrift Hotel

We stayed here in August with our 4 dogs. They didn’t have a issue with 4. Just a $20 per dog per night charge.

We were put in the East building because that’s where they put folks with dogs. The East building has exposure to the sun almost the whole day. As far as we could tell none of the rooms have A/C. You have a box fan in each room and you will have to put this in the window to cool the room. The first night we slept with the window open but it got very warm, so we used the box fan the second night.

The trash can in the room was basically an ice bucket with a plastic bag to line it. There was a plastic tub marked “we recycle”. We put cans and plastic bottles in it but it wasn’t emptied the first night.

We had a text around 10am asking if we wanted the room cleaned. We said yes, then took the dogs and went out. When we got back at 2pm the room still hadn’t been cleaned and housekeeping stops at 3pm, so I sent them another text. They apologized and said they would be there in 10 minutes. 1 minute later they were at the door. Grabbing 4 dogs and vacating the room at a moment’s notice was a little less than convenient.

The room itself was quite small. Paint was peeling off the walls and one of the lights was quite literally an Edison bulb attached to a piece of extension cord hanging from the ceiling. There was a mini fridge on top of an old crate to keep it off the floor but no microwave.

Now, bear in mind that we were paying $320 per night for this it was Bellagio prices for a Motel 6 room.

The restaurant wasn’t bad but the food was expensive ($138 for 2 adults and a child, including 2 glasses of wine and a beer).

There was a nice, dog friendly, beach about 50 yards away but there are numerous stables in the area so lots of horses on the beach and some of the riders seemed intolerant of dogs.

Make what you will of this. Reviews are subjective but this is an honest and accurate assessment of our experience over 2 days. All things considered I would probably look elsewhere if we visit this area again.
