Clean but cool

Hampton Inn & Suites Mystic

Our trip was cut short due to a broken pipe in the sprinkler on the top floor causing the hotel to be evacuated for the night. We were moved to another hotel across the street with reasonable haste despite the chaos. Before we were moved we spent a few hours at this hotel and watched a movie. The room was on the first floor, several dogs in the hotel but not loud. The room door was very loud. The room was cold despite cranking the heat but that might have been related to the troubles they later had. The pool looked warm and popular. Bathrooms near the pool. Lobby was warm and welcoming. Staff was friendly. Overall, it probably would have been a nice place to stay :)

Warm and welcoming

Residence Inn by Marriott Mystic Groton

Ended up at this hotel due to an emergency at our prior booking. Milk bones on the desk was a good first impression. The room was a suit with two moderate sized rooms and a joining door. My kids were on a pullout sofa that was comfortable. Two TVs and plenty of extra seating was appreciated. Fridge, full kitchen, all the soaps and detergents you need, and plenty of fluffy towels. Staff was friendly. Several places to run around with our dog. Pool was small and about 68-70 degrees. Plenty of towels.
Breakfast was good but closed promptly at 9:30. Only issues: back door to outside was broken and unlocked. Room key kept needing to be reset. Pretty quiet and clean though worn hotel. Would stay again.

Everything but the morning

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Middletown

Lovely stay, comfy bed, good pillows, clean room, plenty of parking, friendly check in staff who even greeted my dog with a cookie. Fluffy towels. Green spaces to run and poop. Slept well. Breakfast is restricted due to covid which is fine, it was a brown bag with a bagel, tiny danish, and an orange. (Self serve coffee was available though).

The issue was the surly front desk guy in the morning who was in the bathroom for most of his shift and was the gate keeper to breakfast and check out....

Hidden away, in the bathroom, and then Back in the bathroom he caused a serious bottleneck for people checking out which I witnessed as I waited for a breakfast bag and again when I wanted to check out...
