Not the best but not the worst

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Chattanooga - Lookout MTN

This La Quinta was rated 4.5 bones when we began looking for accommodations. We usually stay with La Quinta if we are planning to stay in a hotel over an airbnb. We have had pretty good luck with La Quinta overall. Booking through BringFido was great. Upon arrival around 11pm after a long day, we were put into a room on the first floor. While unloading our luggage, I noticed the bathroom was not clean. The shower doors had hand prints and soap scum on them. There was mildew and buildup around the toilet and shower. Then, when I looked at the bed, the linens were stained and our top sheet had a hole in it. The pillowcases were also stained. I am not one to complain but I looked at my husband and told him we couldn’t stay in that room.

He went to the front desk. The woman working that night was very apologetic. She immediately offered us a room on the second floor. We packed up and went to the second room. We were exhausted so we crashed. Well, soon we were burning up. The dog was panting even. We made it through the night but the thermostat clearly wasn’t working correctly. The lady at the front desk said she would send someone up to look at it. No one ever came until 2 pm. When she, Ruby, walked in to our room to look at the thermostat she said it felt a lot warmer than 74°. No kidding! She offered to move us yet again for the third time to a room directly next door. We gathered our things and moved them over. The difference was like walking into a fridge from a sauna.

The room was much cleaner all around too. I wished we were offered this room on our first try. As for the dog accommodations here, it’s lacking. There is a fenced in area across from the front lot with potty bag dispensers. However, the entry gate is muddy to the point that the little park is inaccessible. There was dog feces everywhere around the hotel which is so unhygienic. People should pick up after their pets because they’re going to ruin it for people who travel responsibility. If they don’t pick up, the hotel should be maintaining their grounds.

My dog wouldn’t even potty or walk in the grass anywhere around the hotel. He would walk far enough off the curb to urinate and then walk away back into the asphalt. This is by far the worst La Quinta we’ve stayed at out of probably 8-9 through the years. People issues aside like the faulty AC and the dirty linens, from a dog perspective, it isn’t that appealing either. I’m grateful that they moved us rooms. I would not book this location again though.

A good stopping spot

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Chattanooga - East Ridge

We spent the weekend in town and our 50lb dog travels with us. I am
New to the Bring Fido app but booked the La Quinta easily through the app. We checked in without issue ($20 pet fee at check-in) and were given a room on the first floor close to a side door. (118) We are blessed that our dog travels very well. He’s quiet and well behaved. The room was fully carpeted with a tile entryway and bathroom. No pet smell or odor. The room was well appointed and clean. The bed was a bit tall so we pushed the chair up to the bed edge so our dog could more easily get on and off the bed. Maybe bring stairs for tiny dogs. The room had a mini-fridge which was convenient since our dog’s meals need to be kept chilled. The downsides to this location include a LIMITED potty area for dogs. There is a small strip behind the hotel/pool but it’s dark, muddy and soggy. In front of the lobby is a more spacious grassy area but my dog was reluctant to relieve himself in any of these areas for some reason. There are potty stations with disposal bags and trash cans but of course, others aren’t taking advantage of those offered supplies. They were not cleaning up after their pets which makes night time breaks a bit frustrating. (Sorry to say it’s usually the small dog owners that are the main problem.) The staff were never around our dog but everyone was polite to us. There was a small dog a few doors down that barked SO MUCH during the day and in the evenings. It also scratched at the door non-stop. However, it sounded like it could have been scratching at the closet door inside the entry way. The door noise seemed to sound hollow like a track door clanking back and forth. (I truly hope the owner didn’t lock their little dog in the closet while they were out but that is my logical guess if their room was set up as ours were.) It was quite irritating but we never heard it carrying on at night or we would have mentioned it to staff. We would likely stay here again but I might try the La Quinta across town as well. (I read they have an enclosed park area for dogs.) We have had good luck with La Quinta when traveling both with and without our dog. Our room was decent and served it’s purpose. It wasn’t perfect but our dog was content and safe and we had clean linens and a hot shower. (Although, that shower has issues beneath it. I felt the fiberglass floor give a bit under my feet and noticed some cracking along the edging/caulking where water must be getting in and seeping down the wall/floor and rotting those areas.) I will mention it here despite it having no direct connection or impact on my dog’s stay.
