Satisfied 1st Time Dog In Hotel Traveler

Drury Inn & Suites Meridian

This was a first for our family, thus I have no pet-in-hotel travel comparison. The staff was very friendly and accepting of our travel with a large breed dog. Then entire hotel, inside, is smoke free - love this! The room was nice, and acceptably clean. The bed comforter was covered with an extra sheet; which I really liked. (basically, if something happened/dog got sick or what not ... only the sheet would be ruined in lieu of the more expensive comforter.) They do provide a dog relief area and have provided plastic bags & a disposal bin.
On the less to like side: The extra fee per night seemed high, especially considering that the fee is higher than the per night fee to kennel a dog. The hotel rule is for pet owners to use stairs with the pet; This could be a problem for someone on the higher level floors. Perhaps a better rule may be to allow pet owners to use elevators - only when other guests are NOT present on the elevator. Also, at least one set of stairs leads directly outside, with no way back into the hotel, without exiting the building, walking around, then re-entering through the lobby. The dog relief grounds were located next to 4 lane highway, which was quite un-nerving. Lastly, many pet owners (and shame on you owners) do not clean-up after their dogs ... this gives all pet owner/travelers a bad name!
