Charge for service dogs
Comfort Inn Binghamton I-81I try to stay at dog-friendly hotels even though I have an all-access service dog. Comfort Inn hotels charge a pet fee for service dogs and do not allow access to the breakfast area, even though this is against the law. The room was fine, there is a fairly large field for dogs to roam. But service dog owners beware!!
Clean room
Super 8 by Wyndham ChildressI was a tad worried when I first got there. Rough crowd, I thought. Turns out they were nice enough. Our room was on the second floor, accessed by open staircases which I thought I would never get my dog up, much less me (I have a real problem with them). The hotel should consider dedicating rooms on the first floor to accommodate those guests with pets. So that’s my biggest ding. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. There is a city park about 6 blocks away that was a great place to get some exercise. But beware—lots of sticker burrs in the grass!
Better than expected
Sunset MotelAn old motel on Route 66 that’s been well maintained plus a few nice bonuses, like a (very welcome) grassy area big enough for my dog & me to play & get a little exercise. Clean room. My dog found the rubber ducky provided before I could even get all the bags in the room, so that’s a nice touch.
Does the job
The L MotelThe room was clean and comfortable but old. I kinda like the old motels that you can drive up to the door & park. If you don’t like the heavy smell of Febreze (which I don’t) then you’d have a bit of a problem (I did.) Flagstaff has a wonderful dog park about a 20-minute walk away, but the receptionist didn’t know much about it. I got better info from a guy who was walking his dog past the motel.
