Room not as reserved
Exchange Club MotelWe reserved a pet friendly updated family room with tile floor and soundproofing. When we arrived they keyed us for one room, saw that the room had someone in it because the door was open, and then placed us in a standard room. The difference was only $5, and they looked like they needed the $5, so I did not push for the refund. The counters and furniture had been updated but the floors had dirty carpet and there was definitely no soundproofing. Every car that drove by and every step in the room above us seemed to be amplified. You could see daylight around the air conditioning/heating unit so all street noise was in our room. Our room did not smell like smoke, but beside us was an obvious long term resident who kept his door open all day, and his room reeked - so bad - and there was a lot of local foot traffic in and out of his room. There are not a lot of options in Beatty and our focus was on visiting Death Valley, but it was definitely not the 4 1/2 bones experience that was represented.

Kitchen in room.
My Place Hotel Hurricane UTThe people amenities are great. The hotel is not fancy, but has a kitchen with a full-size refrigerator with an ice maker (no other ice machine on the property) and a built in nightlight in the bathroom. The rooms were clean and the toiletries were Neutrogena. The website said checkin is 2pm but in their lobby it is posted 3pm. (We were there at 2 and had to wait until 3 for a ground floor room.) There were lots of dogs. There were lots of poop bags on each side of the hotel and a large open gravel field behind that is probably overflow parking. The staff was cordial and helpful.
