Good Dog Facilities, FAR Less Expensive than Port District

This hotel comprises two round towers off the Maine Turnpike and across from the mall. Very dog accommodating — our 100lb Berner was no problem (even though they supposedly have a 75lb limit). Lots of other dogs here, too. Good places to walk the dog, and even a fenced in “dog park” (just a small play area, really) with a poop bag dispenser.

All rooms renovated in 2018. One of the two beds in our room sagged to one side, but not bad. Definitely dog friendly and a decent place to stay.

Cruising with the Dog

Even though our Berner is 9, this was his first time on a boat. But it went great, and the crew couldn’t have been nicer. There are gangplanks and stairs... just be aware, it’s a boat. You can sit outdoors in the breeze or indoors in the A/C if the sun is too hot for your furry friend. Bring a bowl for water... the best we could do was a plastic cup. Definitely recommended.

Cooper Loved It

On a warm and sunny August afternoon, the staff was especially accommodating by letting us sit with our Bernese Mountain Dog at a picnic table in the shade that’s normally part of the bar area. They treated him like a king: a BIG bowl of water, and... a complimentary plate of chicken fingers (which they gave to US of course to feed to Cooper).

Well, you can’t have more fun than that if you’re a dog.

The food was fine, if not really outstanding, the kitchen was glacially slow. The drinks were priced reasonably.

We’d definitely go back... because they treated our dog so great.
