Clean but noisy

Drury Inn & Suites Memphis Southaven

The hotel was fine - the staff were friendly and the room was very clean. Two things weren't great - when I arrived the hotel did not have a record of either pet that I had reserved for. Thankfully they were very accommodating and even waived the fee for me. The second thing was that the road that runs alongside the hotel is VERY busy. Our room was on that side of the hotel and the noise from that road and the nearby freeway were very loud all night. Then, around 3am, the flights started coming and going - the Memphis airport must be nearby. Needless to say we didn't sleep well at al. Our pets heard all that noise too and were very active all night. It is a clean hotel so if you book there request a room on the backside of the hotel facing away from the adjacent road.

Choose somewhere else

Comfort Suites Mount Vernon

I stayed at this hotel with my dog recently and wished I would have booked at the nearby Drury Inn which I have stayed at before. As others have said, the hotel staff are extremely friendly and welcoming but other than that, I disagree about the quality of the hotel. The furnishings in the room were worn and the couch had a large tear in the seam, etc. Very bare bones. The fenced dog area is small but nice - about 20 yards from the front entrance of the hotel. Most of the other areas with trees are covered with white rocks instead of grass so you do have to head to the edges of the property to relieve your dog. And those areas are DARK.

There were several dozen semi trucks parked nearby and lots of single men in the hotel - several of which were standing outside in the parking lot drinking from the back of a pick up truck. When I got in the elevator to go upstairs after an evening pee break, and extremely intoxicated man got in the elevator with me and unfortunately was headed to the same floor as me. As a female traveler on my own I did not really feel very safe in this hotel. I would not have gone back outside later in the evening should my dog have needed to go again. Pay the little extra money for the Drury Inn - it's brighter, safer, and has both evening and morning free meals.

Great Stay

ARRIVE Memphis

My dog and I had a great stay at the Arrive. The hotel was built in a converted warehouse and the lobby and rooms are funky and gorgeous. Staff was super nice and accommodating across the board. Not cheap - the valet parking is $25 - I had a full car due to a move and felt this was the safest best but you can park on the street if you're cool with that. Lobby Bar - yummy drinks and flatbreads/salads. This hotel is about 5 or 6 blocks from Beale St (not too close, not too far) and there are lots of little shops and restaurants on Main St. (It has a bit of an up and coming feel to it - a bit edgy, but safe.) The Civil Rights museum is one block away. Would definitely stay again.
