DO NOT BOARD YOUR FUR BABY HERE!

K9 Activity Club

DO NOT BOARD YOUR FUR BABIES AT K9!! My sweet 9 month old Rottweiler Kiki boarded with this facility starting on May 20th and was supposed to picked up May 24th. The package I paid for her to board was the cottage. Where it states there is an overnight sitter and "each dog is assigned a crate and let out at the sitters discretion" "a home away from home experience". I discussed Kiki does not usually do well overnight in a crate (as she is free to sleep anywhere in our home) and they were well aware of that and said they would accommodate accordingly, also if they felt like the cottage wasn't appropriate they would move her to the classic lodging area. I get a call Sunday afternoon around 2:30pm regarding an injury to Kikis muzzle, which was described to me as a "scratch" or "scab that came off" and that they did treat her with a face washout and put some ointment. Sounding not bad over the phone at first I was okay with that since of course small injuries can occur. BUT when I received the pictures (which I will attach) I was appalled and furious! This was not a small injury. I immediately called back to further discuss the situation, in response they do not know, and that at the time did not talk to the person who was her sitter in the cottage for the night. I called a family member to pick up Kiki up as soon as I received those photos and take her to the vet. The vet describes her wound as 48hrs old and was caused by repeated rubbing most likely from the latch of the crate. The vet ended up doing a debridement in her wound. She is now on antibiotics and pain killers. I write an email to the owner Alicia and we met and discussed the situation. Still after meeting with Alicia there is no answers to how this occurred and she states we can "speculate". She states the sitter said she whined only once through the night which he took her out to pee. I'm sorry this is BS there's no way my pup Kiki could cause this much damage to her face and not cry during the process or even be silent about it (which Alicia states she probably did this silently). No interventions were ever done or nothing in her report card stating she was enduring any sleep behavior issues. I paid for Kiki to be in a cottage and to be supervised more closely. This is absolute neglect in their ability to care for my pup, with a vet stating the wound was 48hrs old and staff not noticing the wound until it started to ooze IS UNACCEPTABLE!! Per Alicia many workers were caring for Kiki is didn't realize it. This is on her face where it's in clear sight view. I wouldn't trust them with my pup ever again! STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!
