Good, dog friendly motel
St. Ignace Budget Host InnThe hotel is fairly ordinary, but it’s in a great location and they look out for Fido’s interests. It’s easy to take your pooch for a walk, and local businesses are close.
Not up to Sheraton standards
Sheraton Charlotte HotelFine for the pooch, but I expect more from Sheraton. This hotel is tired and needs a renovation. The lobby is nice, but devices were fair at best—partly due to the pandemic, I suspect. Didn’t have the staff to deliver according to the Sheraton tradition.
Good hotel, good location
Comfort Suites South Grand RapidsGreat location, especially if you’re heading south from GR. Great service.
Excellent for dogs
Hampton Inn & Suites Knoxville Papermill DriveEasy access off the freeway and great for the dog. Room was close to door and a great dog area.
Good, dog friendly facility
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lexington South / HamburgConveniently located if you’re traveling south from Lexington. The promised human breakfast was not available, so that was a bit disappointing.
Don’t Stay Here
Econo Lodge Traverse CityRates were good, but I guess you get what you pay for. The room wasn’t clean, and the building is in terrible shape. The website mentioned renovations, but I saw no evidence. It was so bad that I will never stay at an Econo Lodge again—even if it costs twice as much to stay elsewhere.
Dog friendly, but….
Claridge InnThis is a tired, worn out establishment. The rooms look like they haven’t been updated in 40 years. Our room was not thoroughly cleaned before we checked in—previous occupant’s towels had not been removed, carpet was bumpy and badly patched, sink and tub drained very slowly and bathtub was badly discolored. This was once Rhinelander’s premier hotel, but it needs a complete renovation.
