Great in the off-season

This is a really nice beach to take your dog to in spring and fall, but not in summer. Dogs aren't allowed on the beach in summer, which may be just as well, since the sand gets too hot to walk on. OC is such a long expanse, it's hard to understand why they can't reserve a bit of it for dogs in summer. For this, I take a bone away. There is a dog beach on nearby Assateague Island where they are allowed all year, but I haven't been there, so can't comment on that one. OC Beach is super nice for dogs between Labor Day and Memorial Day when it's less crowded and not to hot on the sand, and I highly recommend it. I only occasionally saw dog feces where the owners didn't pick up after their pets. Do bring your own poop bags, as there were none provided, but there are garbage receptacles all year.
