It’s Fine, No Bugs, Just Cigs

Motel 6 Joliet IL - Chicago - I-55

They definitely allow dogs, but it’s loud outside from the highway, there isn’t a lot of non litter filled grassy areas surrounding the building so even taking a short bathroom walk is hard. The entire hallway/building reeks of cigarettes. The sheets had a cigarette burn in the blanket despite it being a non smoking room. It somehow didn’t smell like cigarettes in the room, but the burn on the blanket made me nervous. If you need a quick stop that's pet friendly, this is an affordable option, and while it’s not dirty it’s not clean either. My dog was nervous the entire time we were there and I wanted to leave as soon as I woke up. I brought my own pillowcase for my curly hair, but honestly might want to bring some regardless. Book at your own discretion.

Dog and People Paradise Amongst Corn

Element Omaha Midtown Crossing

Can’t recommend enough. We drove for many hours, as we are moving across the country with our nervous feist/aussie mix. This hotel is in a great location in Omaha, whatever cleaning products they used in the lobby smells good and not too overpowering. Element is an immaculate hotel and the staff are all helpful and friendly. The hotel is located in a beautifully designed plaza, well maintained, and there’s a dog park immediately outside, as well as the downtown area with plenty of restaurants and outdoor seating for you and your dog. The room we had was a deluxe, which we found out means extra space and a full working kitchen with appliances for no extra charge. A full fridge, not even a mini fridge. This has been my favorite stay along our moving trip and makes me want to find a reason to return to Omaha.
