Dog friendly and great Mexican food
Vaquero Y MarWe sat with our dog, Charlie, indoors. The menu had a few unique selections, but I went with the chili relleno plate. My wife, Guin, selected the chicken tostada (which was good, she says, but a bit small). Prices are quite reasonable too. They will be making family recipe tamales soon. Maybe we'll come back to Ventura just for those!
Absolutely Dog friendly
Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach an IHG HotelFloors 3 and 4 accommodate dogs. When we were here (Oct. 31 - Nov. 2) the beach was nearly empty, and our dog had a wonderful time there. Plenty of dog-friendly restaurants within walking distance too. One negative is that US 101 is next to the hotel, so the noise could be an issue.
Beware.... The parking lot might be closed
Ventura River Trail (Ojai Valley Trail Extension)Parking lot was closed when we tried to visit. No signage to explain why.

Great for you and the dogs!
Immigrant Son Caffe VenturaFood was excellent - many unique items. Very dog friendly (although they do not have a dog menu or treats).
Wonderful place for dogs!
Edgewater Inn and SuitesThe folks here are accustomed to their guests having dogs. The beach is a walk down a rather long staircase, and you need to keep your dog on a leash. (Yes, the lifeguards here do enforce this.) Nevertheless, a "real" dog beach isn't too far away - just a couple miles north at Old Porte Avila Beach. There are plenty of dog-friendly eateries within a walk from the Inn. Nice trip!
More than expected
Motel 6 Carpinteria CA - Santa Barbara - SouthOK, it's Motel 6 not the Ritz Carlton. You can't expect to be in the lap of luxury, but the price is definitely right. The room is fine, there is a place nearby for fido to potty, and you're a walk away from some very good pet-friendly restaurants.
