Worst hotel stay

La Quinta by Wyndham Atlanta Airport North

At first everything went well, the front desk associate was very nice and explained everything including the pet fee and the damage fees. I got to my room, a king suite on the end of the building. As soon as I walked in it smelled like fresh smoke and the smoke alarm was chirping, like someone took the batteries out. This hotel is advertised as 100% smoke-free. Since we had our dog with us, I was not willing to stay in a room with smoke, so I went down and asked for a different room. The front desk associate told me the hotel was fully booked and there were no other rooms available. She sent me with the maintenance guy to see if he could fix the smoke alarm and he brought a machine to get the smoke smell out. He told me that a room next door could be smoking and it could come thru the vents into my room. I then said I was not staying in that room and magically a room opened up and we got switched. This new room (a standard double queen room) was right next to the elevator. It was noisy all night long with people yelling in the hallway. There was loud banging all night which was making my dog bark. So many people were in and out all night and we barely got one minute of sleep. Never ever will stay here again and possibly never at a La Quinta.
