Great stay
Comfort Suites HagerstownThe Comfort Suites hotel in Hagerstown was quick and easy to find right off of I70. The room was clean and quiet with comfortable bedding and appropriately warm heat settings on a frigid night. The housekeeping and desk staff were exceptionally friendly. The breakfast was mediocre, but other options are close by. There was easy access to the outdoor green space for our dogs to do their business.
Suited our needs
Quality Inn SomersetThe hotel itself was nothing exceptional, but our room was clean, quiet, and in a convenient location to the door to the outside. The staff were helpful and agreeable. The hotel location easy to find and close to the expressway, the parking was easy, and there was ample area to exercise the dogs. The less said about the breakfast, the better. The fireplace in the dining area was a nice touch, as were the Xmas decorations.
Friendly hotel
Quality Inn New River GorgeThis hotel was right off the highway (19) and easy off and on. he staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the $15 dog fee was reasonable. The attached (and apparently popular) bar/restaurant was a bit hard to locate, but graciously served above-average bar food at a good price.
Fine hotel-but high dog fees
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Mount Airy an IHG HotelThis Holiday Inn Express had friendly staff, clean rooms, and an okay breakfast; but the pet fee of $50 apiece was exorbitant.
Mixed feelings
Hotel Indigo Columbus Architectural Center an IHG HotelThe Indigo Hotel in Columbus is very clean, stylish, and convenient and we were very appreciative of their allowing our two dogs to stay with us there. However, the posted policy of mask wearing was ignored by a group of other guests who became belligerent when we approached them on the topic. I realize that in Covid times the mask-wearing issue can be contentious, but the hotel should be able to enforce it's stated policy for the benefit of guests who might be more vulnerable to the virus.
