Worst hotel ever experience I’ve ever had!!

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Boone University

As we arrived there was a sign on the front door that stated “Bring Fido, we love pets”. We were down from PA visiting our daughter in NC and the reviews sounded good for this hotel. We were told that we could pay cash for the room from Thursday to Monday. Upon arrival my wife was informed that they have to have a “card on file” so I had to travel to an atm to deposit cash while my wife stayed behind with our belongings at the hotel. After check in my wife and daughter immediately changed and went to the pool. 5 minutes after being in the room the room phone rings and they inform me of a “noise complaint” which I stated had to be a mistake since it was the dog and I in the room and the tv was off at the time. I let it pass. Approximately 10 minutes later the phone rings again to “confirm who is in the room to make sure they have the right people in the right room”. Which I thought was odd and unprofessional. So the night passes we head out the next mid morning to explore Boone and have some lunch while the dog stayed behind at the “pet friendly, large dogs welcome” hotel. Upon ordering our food at a restaurant 6-7 minutes from the hotel I receive this text “ Good afternoon, this is the La Quinta. We have received another noise complaint about your dog. Please come back to the hotel and not leave the pet alone again. Thank you”.

That is an awesome exact copy and paste of the TEXT not phone call I received from the hotel. I left my wife and daughter at the restaurant to go investigate the issue with the dog at the hotel. The young lady behind the counter who clearly had a name tag that said supervisor on it said she was not a supervisor when I asked and that she “might” be able to find a manager. After a brief chat with the young lady/supervisor/ not supervisor she walked approximately 3 feet to the room behind her to my surprise to find the “manager”. I questioned what was going on and was advised that it’s their rule you can’t leave the dog alone in the hotel. Mind you I take our dog everywhere and this is the first I’ve heard of this rule. So I picked up my beloved Kora and went back to the restaurant. My wife called and spoke with said “manager” who stated he would refund our money that they charged our card even though they said they would not charge and that we would only be “charged” for the night we stayed which we agreed. When we arrived back at the hotel to retrieve our belongings my wife went to the room to get our items and I went to the front desk to speak with the manager.

At this time he informed me that we would be charged for two nights because of what time we arrived back at the hotel to get our belongings. I questioned this and contacted the customer service line to which I was told all they could do is log the complaint that the property owner has 7 days to reply to my complaint. So we were charged the $288 and some change for two nights even though the only night we stayed was Thursday and we had already secured an air bnb for Friday-Monday. As of the day . I just wanted everyone to who checks this website to be aware that they are not “pet friendly” and we only received a copy of the “pet rules” upon our checking out of the hotel. No pet rules or contracts were signed at the time of check in. Travelers beware.
