Description

HEADLINE: Paws To People Birthday Party Fun Raises Awareness and Research Funds Albuquerque—Paws To People and the Student Nurse Association at ITT Tech are joining forces to celebrate and educate about good health for people and pets... Bring your pet and join us Sunday, March 15th, for our President’s Day Birthday Celebration from noon until 4:00pm at the ITT Campus, 5100 Masthead St. NE, in Journal Center. The President's Day Celebration features games with prizes, workshops, human blood pressure checks, entertainment, and a unique mall featuring talented local vendors. Take-It-Home Workshops focus on make your own all-natural dog shampoo and emergency tips for handling burns, sprains and tummy aches (for you and your pet). Snack on build-your-own nachos, healthy veggies and dip…and of course, cake. The purpose of the event is to raise Epilepsy awareness and to generate funds to meet our 2015 goal of making our first $10,000 research grant in research that will unlock the secrets of one of the nearly 400 diseases shared by people and pets (like cancer, epilepsy, diabetes, dementia). Admission to the President’s Day Celebration is $10.00 ($5.00 for children ages 3-8), which includes all-you-can eat food, unlimited game play, workshop and take home participation, and an entry into our Raffle. You can preregister online at www.BridgesToCures.org and receive entry into a special online-only raffle or pay at the gate. The afternoon is, of course, dog- and family-friendly. Paws To People, a local 501(c)3 charity registered in New Mexico, is committed to furthering comparative research in catastrophic diseases to save the lives of humans and pets. Comparative Studies use the similarities of many diseases that occur in both animals and humans as a starting point to compassionately study naturally occurring diseases in veterinary and human medicine with a goal of sharing data and building from discoveries cooperatively forming a bridge to finding the causes, preventions, and cures of diseases like cancer, dementia/Alzheimers, diabetes, epilepsy, arthritis, hyperthyroidism, heart disease, depression, and PTSD.
