Hogs for Hounds Poker Run and Carniva

Animal lovers and motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to participate in the Hogs for Hounds Poker Run and Carnival, which will be held at Sanford's Kiwanis Park on May 2. The fundraiser, which will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., is in support of Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption. The day will be filled with games, prizes, food, dogs, a rabies and microchip clinic, a poker run and much more. Sponsored by Souls of Service LEMC/PSMC, there will be a poker run open to all bikers and even cars. Registration for the poker run begins at 9 a.m. at Kiwanis Park, with kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. The ride will end at Kiwanis Park. Single riders are $15, and double riders and cars are $20. At the park, barbecue plates will be available for $8, and there will be a 50/50 raffle drawing, games, prizes and a bounce house. CARA will have dogs that are up for adoption to meet, and leashed dogs are welcome to attend. A licensed veterinarian will hold a rabies and microchip clinic in which people can get their dogs and cats their rabies vaccine for $7 and microchipped for $15. Attendees must bring their dogs on leashes and cats in carriers.
