Jan/ Rental with dogs

Hi,
We are looking to get away from the below freezing temps in Jan. Want to explore Hilton Head during the non-busy time , be close to beach, trails etc.
Found several rental options.. but would like some inside knowledge on the various areas of Hilton Head/ neighborhoods etc.
