lake michigan access

I want to take a day trip to Grand haven to walk the dogs along a lake michigan beach. The dogs will be leached. but I am having a hard time seeing a spot on the map that is away from the crowds and has access to a parking lot. Seems like there are very few places that options for us. Frustrating. Lake access is becoming less and less accessible. Any ideas?
