Great beach resort

This was a great hotel for the money. The people complaining that the resort was showing age and not a "luxury hotel" probably can not be pleased. For the price this resort was great. The rooms are really big and no pet smells anywhere. We went during the off season ( mid April) and we took our Westie everywhere. He was on the leash on property. Saw very few other dogs And we heard more noise from kids, never any dogs barking. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to friends.

Not super fancy or anything but it was EXACTLY what we needed. The rooms are big and spacious but the "ocean view" we paid extra for was a little lacking. Considering all of the pet friendly rooms are on the first and second level, you can't see much of the view anyway. The beach was amazing!!! We went early in April so as long as the boys were leashed they were able to chill on the beach with us. We all had such a wonderful time we ended up staying an extra day. We will be back.

I would definitely come back to this resort. The whole resort was just remodeled and looks like a very high end hotel. This was my first trip to a pet friendly hotel so I was worried about the smell and the barking. Luckily it was not a problem. When we arrived a "Pet Ambassador" came by the room to welcome my pup with treats and her own food and water bowl as well as a pamphlet for all the pet friendly things their hotel had to offer as well as the community. I never heard any dogs barking. Staff is very friendly I will definitely be back!!!

I was nervous since this was our first experience bringing our dog to a hotel but ended up being very pleased! Everyone was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and smelled clean as I was concerned about the room! They even had a stainless steel water and food bowl waiting! We were there on off season so we really enjoyed bring able to walk her around the resort grounds and beach! We will definitely be back!

We have stayed at many dog friendly hotels and this one is one of the best. Many places the dog had access to. There were also scheduled times for dogs on the beach. Staff very easy to work with especially when it came to getting our room cleaned. One of the best managed hotels we have stayed in when it came to dogs.

We enjoyed the amenities of this hotel: playground, close access to beach and dog area, however the bathroom was is desperate need of an upgrade with pealing wallpaper and mismatched tiles. Overall the place was nice.
 
Very dog-friendly, but beware room types

We (2 adults) stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday with our dog. As dog owners, we worry that our dog may be bothersome to others who don't have dogs. There were no worries here as our area of the hotel was full of pets. This made it more fun for everyone. There is a grassy area with bags provided. Dogs are allowed to walk around the property and the Palmetto Dunes resort. As we went during the off-season, dogs were also permitted on the beach anytime. Our room was large and clean with a kitchenette (refrigerator, sink, microwave). The bed was comfortable. However, this is not a high-end luxury resort hotel by any means. It is a solid mid-range hotel. The property is starting to show some age. Also, it may be helpful to know that the dog-friendly rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors of the South Tower. The North Tower and higher floors on the South Tower are for guests without pets. I had called the hotel before booking and was told that we could book any room type and level, even with a pet. We chose to pay extra for a king oceanview. When we arrived, our room overlooked the parking lot and we could only get a glimpse of the ocean if we leaned (unsafely) over the balcony at an odd angle. Now, we weren’t expecting a full oceanview, but we were expecting a little more than just the parking lot. We thought there had been some mistake and called down to the front desk. The gentleman stated that "believe it or not, that room is considered oceanview because you can see the ocean if you lean over the balcony." Those were his actual words. He was pleasant though and stated that he would send someone up to give us a key to another room with a better view but 2 queen beds instead of a king. There were no other choices because we had to stay on the 1st or 2nd floor with the dog. I told him that we were told we could book any room type. He stated that while that is true, there were only a few rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors of the South Tower with an oceanview and those were already taken. It took over an hour for someone to come with a key. In the end, we stayed in our original room because the 2nd room reeked of smoke. They told us they could not reduce our rate to that of a standard room because we had already pre-paid for a king oceanview (even though that room type was not available). I couldn't believe it! In the end, they removed the $100 pet fee which brought us to about what we would have paid for a standard room. My suggestion would be to not bother paying extra for an oceanview unless you could be guaranteed one. Despite the rocky start, we liked the hotel for its dog-friendliness.

KT in Atlanta took the words out of my mouth, verbatim our experience, though our room didn't have a microwave, which was not important to us. The hotel is a solid hotel nothing luxury about it, but it is clean. Our off-season stay was fun because the dog can run around on the beach and be off-leash playing with other dogs. During the summer season I expect this would be a different experience, when dogs are most likely not allowed on the beach in that area. Eating at the HH grill was a bad experience for us. We ate there for Christmas dinner as not too many places were open, and they seemed to have a nice dinner menu for Christmas. I ordered Grouper and my husband ordered the beef. My fish was undercooked and tasteless, and his beef was over cooked, and for a plate over $30, I think you'd expect something with a bit more presentation, he got 3 potatoes with a small chunk of meat nothing gourmet about it. Our service was not pleasant, not only did we not get seated where we wanted in the near-empty restaurant, one couple who came in after us with the same hostess also did not have reservations but DID get to be seated where we wanted to sit. We were placed in the bright lights next to the kitchen and near the rear exit. Our wait staff also changed right after our drinks order, something was awkward about the experience, we're not generally fussy people, but we would not eat there again. They had a lot of students from the UK on their staff, that for the most part did not seem like they even wanted to be there at all, this reflected in our service during dinner/breakfast etc...
