Horrible location

The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown

Pulled up to the hotel to find a man passed out (hopefully still alive) in front of the hotel. No staff present. Hotel looks deserted, boarded windows no lighting.

Terrible location

Best Western Plus Hilltop Inn

The lobby was very nice however the room was dark dingy beige. Very small rooms with two queen size beds. Our room was ground floor in the back and Highway 5 is right there and very loud inside the room. Even with the heat on the room felt cold and wet. No real area to walk the dogs around, however there were several strips of grass for them to relieve themselves. Not impressed. The room had a very rundown feel. Will not stay here again.

Good Location disappointing stay.

Anchor Beach Inn

Check-in took about 20 minutes even though we called and confirmed ahead our exact arrival time. Long time to wait in the cold at 6:00pm. Room was nice and clean. Nice vinyl floors throughout except for the bathroom that had tile floors and some damage to the bottom of the door. The bathroom is also extremely small. There are very bright security lights in the parking area which shine into the bathroom windows which requires having the bathroom door closed all night which in turn means an icy cold bathroom in the morning. Also we had a very heavy walker upstairs that paced for several hours that night. The beach is very close and at this time of year was very oily. A nice patch of grass would have been helpful to get some of the black off of the dogs paws and our shoes. There was no place to eat within walking distance and very limited door dash delivery. Not expecting to go back.

Great place for an overnight

Best Western Dry Creek Inn

Great location. There is a walking path just down the street which allowed us to get out and stretch our legs and eat up some time until the 4:00pm check-in time. The staff was very welcoming of our two Springers and got us into our room with a nice doggie welcoming bag. The room was very clean and large enough that we did not feel confined. The bathroom was one of the largest we have found in the Best Western chain allowing us space to put their food and water dishes out of the way on the tile floor. The only downside in the room was the plantation shutters do not block enough of the outside lighting. In the night there was enough outside light coming into the room that you did not have to turn on a light which made it difficult for the Spaniels to sleep well. Also, we couldn’t find a nice grassy pet area close to the hotel. There is a good restaurant adjacent to the hotel and a grocery store just a block away. Would definitely recommend this Best Western.

Great Overnight

The Wayside Inn

After a longer than expected drive in from Seattle due to an accident that shut down the 101 for over an hour, we made it to the hotel just before sunset. The check-in was fast and we were on the beach with our dogs to enjoy the last bit of the setting sun. The room was clean and the welcome basket was wonderful. Especially the cover sheets as we had accidentally left one of ours at a previous stop. The room warmed up quickly and the electric fireplace is a great touch. We slept to the soothing sounds of the constant waves. The well insulated rooms kept all other noise out. The restaurant at the beach was a great place to get food to go, great clam chowder. We met wonderfully nice people who were also traveling with their dogs. And Winnie was thrilled with rabbits and how large the beach was and chasing her ball. Odie got several people to pet him which made his day. Already planning a long weekend in 2020.

Great place to stretch your legs.

Discovery Park

Beautiful park and gorgeous views and scenery. We went on a mostly clear, mostly sunny Sunday. Lots of trails, some paved , some gravel, and some dirt. Although there were a lot of people at the park we only encountered a few. Talked with a lovely group of people out bird watching which was funny because we were there with my son’s English Setter who is a bit bird crazy. Walking along the paths to the accompaniment of bird songs, we were able to forget that we were in a city. Great place to get away from the city sights, sounds, and smells when you are visiting. And up at Ft. Collins there is a beautiful view of Elliot Bay and the snowy mountains beyond. Met lots of friendly puppies during our meanderings.

Beautiful walking trails

Washington Park Arboretum

Went on a sunny Saturday and had a great time. The parking was difficult to find and we were worried that the park would be too crowded to enjoy. However, we never were never overwhelmed by people just the beauty. Occasionally we would pass someone on the trails or we would be passed by cyclists. Everyone was friendly and our high strung English Setter was able to relax and enjoy having dirt under her paws. There are so many secluded areas with benches to sit and relax, drink some water, and take in all the beauty. Lots of shade so the pup stayed cool. The park is extremely well maintained and pet owners seemed to be responsible for picking up after their pets. Great place to get out of the city and listen to all of the birds.

Great location

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown

We stayed here the first week of December. Our two Spaniels were welcomed and the Concierge gave them dog treats! We had a suite on the top floor. The rooms were very spacious and quiet and very clean. No problem getting extra towels or blankets. The closest grassy area is part of the University and is a couple of blocks away. There are a lot of places to eat close by. We will definitely stay here again in March.

Our favorite

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City an IHG Hotel

We love the Hotel Monaco. Super friendly staff. The Spaniels love to get treats from the front desk and hang out by the fireplace in the lobby. The valets are always patient while we organize the Spaniels and all of our stuff. The self park at the parking garage is super convenient and well lit. The last time we were there was at the beginning of December and the staff gave our Spaniels dog toys and brought up dog beds to our room. This must be a new service and we love it. The rooms are quiet and spacious, very clean and the robes are fun. The restaurant is wonderful and room service has been terrific. There is a small park right across the street by the Blue Iguana for potty breaks. We have stayed here a total of six times. Usually we stay for two to three nights. I highly recommend this hotel.
