Nice hotel for 2 bigs dogs
La Quinta by Wyndham Altoona Des MoinesPlenty of green space around the property and adjacent properties for dogs to relieve themselves.
Grass area for dogs
Best Western Plus North Platte Inn & SuitesI needed a last minute hotel for me and my 2 big dogs (both 80 pounds each) during a long road trip. I think context is important because being tried, both physical and of driving, and separated from others in your party can impact your overall perceptions and experiences. Staff seemed a little annoyed (not rude, just bothered) when I was checking in, especially when reminding them I had dogs. No mention of where the dog facilities were located, didn’t offer treats, mumbled their way through the details about everything including breakfasts hours, and told me the wrong door to enter.
Side of the hotel where the parking is, is next to a tractor dealership so the space is mainly concrete rocks and dirt, not ideal for dogs to go to the bathroom for sure, but the dealership lights help you see in the parking lot when you park. My room was clean but a little tired, noisy (both from outside traffic noises and other guests), refrigerator didn’t work (found out in the morning when I went to retrieve some items), hotel is laid out a little funky (never found the elevator), and didn’t stumble across the grass area for the dogs until the morning. Once I stumbled on the grass area for the dogs it was really nice and decent sized! Last, the breakfast burrito I grabbed from the hotel breakfast bar was really good!
Great stay!
Comfort Inn & Suites RawlinsWe stayed while on a long road trip with our two big dogs (about 80 pounds each). Staff was super friendly and accommodating, providing us a ground floor room right by the door to the pet area. Pet area isn’t huge but given that the surrounding area is mainly rocks, dirt and parking lots, it was a welcome bathroom area for our girls. Rooms are quiet so humans and dogs were able to get a full night of sleep. Toilet was a little loud, water pressure in the shower could be better, but a full nights sleep was a great trade off for those minor things. Breakfast had a good amount of choices and coffee was good too! Local restaurant: if you like Mexican, try La Abuelita! We ordered takeout and it was still hot when my partner got it back to the room and the portions were generous!
