Meh

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Tucson Airport

This was my first stay at a DoubleTree Suites. This one is in Tucson near the airport. The room was pricey, as is everything in Tucson this time of year. And on top of that there is a $75 pet fee per visit and we were there only one night. I somehow missed that when I chose this place or I likely wouldn’t have. They placed us in the very back right across from the elevator so there was noise. The area seemed just sketch enough that I parked re parked my car in the front and walked all the way back and then all the way up in the morning. I generally got the impression that they really don’t want people with pets staying there.

Also this hotel was pretty well past its prime. All the cubbies (all suites face an inner courtyard and open to the outside) that likely housed ice and vending machines were empty. The only place to get ice was on the second floor in the very front which was a long way for me and inconvenient. Generally it looked old. At one time I’m sure it was a very nice hotel. Now, meh. Oh, and the walls are thin. The Best Westerns and La Quinta Inns I have stayed in with my pooch have been much nicer.

Good stay

La Quinta by Wyndham Los Banos

Staying here was a pleasant experience. You could not leave your dog in the room alone, however and I thought they had a policy that you could. The rooms were pleasant and with no strong pet smell. Things could have used a little remodeling or maybe a little better maintenance. For instance the paint was chipped in door frames and room doors and doors to the outdoor did not close behind you. There was breakfast with warm potatoes and cheese quesadillas. There were no eggs. Overall a positive experience.
