Dine ON the oldest street in the US!
Nonna's TrattoriaMy husband, dog and I were tired and hangry after a day of touring in almost 90 degree heat. None of us were up for a long wait, given it was a weekend. I had my sights on Harry’s but there was an hour and a half wait. I didn’t want to sacrifice atmosphere or culinary standards, but most places do not accept reservations when it is busy. A quandary. At the last moment, we found this total gem on Bring Fido. Nonna’s is a family owned authentic Sicilian bistro on Aviles Street, the oldest street in America. With no reservation, we were immediately seated at a sidewalk table. Their delicious fresh baked rolls in garlic olive oil were brought to us within a minute! (They offered more with our meal and we said yes!)We had a truly fabulous meal in such a romantic atmosphere with horse and carriages going by, the old buildings around us and Italian tunes playing. We split a bottle of wine, the bolognese pasta, a Caesar salad and tiramisu. Everything was delicious! Excellent service, food and atmosphere. It was a fabulous evening and a truly St. Augustine experience!!!
