I hope my review will inform others of the SERIOUS HEALTH CONCERNS RICHTER PUT MY PETS IN AND YOURS!! On day 4 of boarding, I received a call that my one dog had diarrhea with a bloody stool. I was told that they felt the stress of being boarded caused this. On day 6, I noticed that one dog was left inside while the other was in daycare. While there was no reason for this, and it was already discussed not separating the two dogs to avoid additional stress, the response I received for why this was done was alarming. The Resort Manager started with- were you not called this morning regarding our concern with your other dog having Kennel Cough? I replied in shock- no, and if that is the case, why is my other dog out in the daycare exposing all the other dogs? She ‘claimed’ he wasn’t, but then I told her, I could clearly see on the cameras that he was outside in daycare. She also had the audacity to tell me that Kennel Cough can lay dormant for 2 weeks, and my dog probably had it before coming to boarding. I told her that my dogs have not been around any other dogs other than at Richter, and for her to even to imply this was disrespectful and downright rude.

There was a lot said in this conversation, but to cut to the chase, it was clear she didn’t have any regard for my dog’s safety, and EVERYONE ELSE’S DOGS BY EXPOSING THEM TO WHAT WAS THOUGHT TO BE KENNEL COUGH.

At this point, we ended our vacation early and drove through the night to get home as quickly as possible and pick up our babies.

I am happy to report that my dog doesn’t have Kennel Cough, as another vet determined that the irritation was from someone pulling hard on his leash and/or neck. But sadly, this isn’t the first time this has happened at Richter.

I also received a voicemail from Richter about 4 hours after I had picked them up. I was kind of hopeful that it would be a call checking on how my pets were doing, but no- it was a voicemail letting me know they forgot to add an additional charge and that they needed my authorization to charge my card on file. Really people?!

I stopped by Richter today to pay my bill, cancel all of my future services and speak to [Resort Manager]. I had a little hope that she would have something positive to say that would help me see that she learned something from the incident, but sadly- she was the same unprofessional with a lack of care that she was on the phone. She also asked me; what I thought she should have learned from this experience. WOW, Richter, it’s sad that you have someone as incapable as she is in a management role.

After being a client for nearly 10 years- I had to cut ties with this facility. My reasonings above are enough to make this decision, but I also understand that mistakes can be made as long as they are learned from and handled professionally. Seeing that Richter has trusted [Resort Manager] to be the Resort Manager - I can only suspect that her unprofessionalism and lack of care could rub off on her other employees. If this continues, I see a significant loss in business for Richter.

In my opinion, Bryan and Stacey should be running the facility. They have been long-term employees that have always shown me and my pets the utmost courtesy and respect. Because of them and Monze, I have paid far more than most facilities for services and stayed as long as I have.
