A seedy hotel

I was given a room card. As I was going to the room I couldn't help but see how run down the hotel is. The carpets in the halls are very badly stained and fraying in spots. Substantial stains are everywhere. I go to the room and entered. The putrid smell of urine was overwhelming. Impossible to stay in that room. I went back up to the desk and the clerk gladly gave me another room. I went to assay that room and the smell of "room" freshener was pervasive, offensively pervasive. But slightly better than urine so I opted to stay. The room was very shabby, worn. The door jambs were filthy. The lamps were not plugged in so I had to try to do that. I am 75. The bed linens looked okay but I was so concerned about the seediness that I stripped both beds to check for bed bugs. It seemed ok.

I had dog food that needs to be refrigerated. No mini fridge. I went to the second floor to get ice to try to ice the food. The elevator was a disgrace. It was not only dirty, not only wallpaper coming off the walls but someone had spilled something down the walls, no idea when, and it was dried and never cleaned up. Of course I had to throw away the unrefrigerated dog food. The next morning I went to shower and saw the rust all around the water overflow. Lots of rust. Hard to feel clean when you are looking at rust. I had stayed at a La Quinta previously with my dog. It was very nice. This hotel is dilapidated and shabby and dirty.
