Gorgeous surroundings and dog-welcoming!
SkylandWe can’t wait to return here with BOTH of our dogs! The room was perfect with a small balcony; quiet and clean; everyone we mentioned our dog to (hotel and park) offered us either a biscuit or pup cup; our room was near a trail head we hiked on the morning of departure. We didn’t see anyone else on the trail. Lovely room with PLENTY of space to potty our dog. If you are visiting Shenandoah, I highly recommend staying at Skyland! The only thing that would have been nice would be to have a refrigerator in the room (that was surprising) and a locked trash can (for dog waste) outside of our cabin. We had to dispose of waste at the cans near the office. Minor inconvenience, but would definitely stay here again!
Super basic
Quality Inn & Suites Macon NorthProbably would not stay here again unless I absolutely had to: our room was dirty (lots of dirt and debris on floor at entrance); top comforter was full of black dog hair; it was obvious the room had not been well-cleaned by my dog’s behavior as well; we were exhausted from our drive and all of the noises throughout the night caused much disruption. There was a constant loud hum of the refrigerator and every so often there would be additional, sudden loud noises from the plumbing in the bathroom that startled us all; we were given a room in the back unit next to a work shed that had a bunch of rags on the fence and trash surrounding it (not very inviting); despite room conditions, check in and check out were easy and there were grab and go breakfast options available when we checked out; if you’re on a tight budget and can tolerate some less-than-pristine conditions, this place could suffice; but next time I am in Macon I will consider other options!
Super stay
Candlewood Suites Youngstown W I-80 Niles Area an IHG HotelWe stayed overnight at this hotel last weekend during a scentwork trial. The accommodations were perfect for myself, two teens and two Weimaraners. The room was clean and spacious with a full kitchen which made our stay comfortable and convenient. The grounds had plenty of green potty space for my boys and a nice pool and hot tub for my girls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!
Great location and dog-friendly
Red Roof Inn CortlandNot luxurious, but clean, functional, friendly staff and perfect for dogs! Ample grassy area next to parking lot for potty area. Beautiful, quiet Yaman Park is literally a minute away. Great place to walk, sniff, track. Half-hour south in Whitney Point is GORGEOUS and SUPER-SPACIOUS Dorchester Park: many facets to sniff, explore, track, picnic and hang (especially if showing nearby). This Red Roof is also conveniently located to Starbucks and other places you can easily get take-out, as well as grocery, pet store, and pet-friendly businesses (Lowes and Tractor Supply) where you can practice manners/heeling in distractible environments. Staff was helpful and friendly and made a point to socialize and interact with my boy. Would definitely stay here again as all of our needs were met and location was perfect!
