We have a dog named Magnus. He is a Great Pyrenees/Newfoundland mix. At 14 weeks old, he's an awesome dog.

Excellent trainer

PetSmart Training

Magnus is almost 15 weeks old, and he's doing great in the training department. However, being a large dog, he requires major socialization. We signed up for the Greece location training, and we were not disappointed. So far we've only visited for one session, however the trainer definitely made us excited to go back next Monday for additional sessions. We are already planning the next class.

The trainer starts off introducing herself and allows us to introduce ourselves and our puppies. She then gives each participant a folder and a clicker. The folder includes some "homework" assignments, information covered in class, and some coupon books to use at the store.

Then she starts going through some important information about the class, which she makes interactive with small pop quizzes. She also asks us to tell her what our goals are so she can make sure she meets them with planned training.

Then there's the meat of the training session, which she explains will be more involved in the upcoming classes since introductions are complete. She starts right off with the basics of "sit" and how to use the clicker. Then she assigns homework, and we are allowed to go around the class and meet the other dogs.

I will update further after the classes are over.

UPDATE - The dogs weren't really able to socialize much during the class or after. The trainer did a lot more talking than teaching, unfortunately. Magnus did learn some new tricks, and we were given a clicker. The clicker has come in handy for sure.

The trainer tells a lot of stories, which is normally okay. However, many of her stories are about how she is unable to get one of her dogs to do whatever it is she would like him or her to do. To someone looking for an experienced trainer, it would be helpful if she did not mention things like that, as it can put off potential customers from trying a different class later on.
