If I'm staying somewhere, I'm probably geocaching with my dog!

Absolutely disgusting, loud, and rude.

Motel 6 Albany NY - Airport

When we arrived we were promptly told that if my dog barked we would get kicked out-even if it was the middle of the night-because they were almost full. After that welcome we got to the room. The stench hit you in the face as soon as you opened the door. It was heavy smoke, body odor, and stale Pine Sol. Every surface was disgusting. Food, mold, and human hair all over the floor. Urine all over the toilet seat. White stains and dead bugs on the beds. Gobs of huge dust bunnies and streaky stains covered the bed frame. Missing door safety lock and towel bar. No wifi. Broken window with no frost or covering in the bathroom. Toothpaste water stains around the sink. If I could find anywhere else I'd have just walked out. The parking lot remained empty, but the "housekeeping" room next to mine threw a party half the night. The people upstairs stomped like elephants. Absolutely horrible. There was only one working ice machine, inside the office, that gave you about 10 ice cubes at a time. The lady who checked me in came out to oversee it. Seemed annoyed that I interrupted dinner something as there was an infant screaming in the back somewhere. The pet area consists of about an 8' strip along the fence, empty bag dispenser, full (overflowing) poop receptacle, and litter- bottle caps, change, a tampon, soiled car mats, and actual kitty litter dumped there. Worst experience ever!

Close to lots of parks

Red Roof Inn Fulton

We stopped over here for the night while working on our State Parks geocaching challenge. Perfectly located right in the middle of the Central Parks region. Also plenty of fast food places and Dollar Generals in case your food supply (or iced coffee!) is running low or you forgot something (like an umbrella). Room was clean and comfortable. Only thing wrong that I noticed was the microwave turntable plate was missing. Still cooked my ramen just fine. Desk staff was friendly. My dog is small and couldn't get on the bed by herself, but the ottoman made a perfect step for her. We earned the coin the next day without losing hours on the road. Will definitely remember this place for next year!

Problems...

Motel 6 Oriskany NY

Since this is for BringFido, I will say they had a pet walk lawn and bag dispenser. It went downhill from there. They are remodeling so there were some areas that were a mess, which is to be expected. The lobby was neat and clean. The clerk had issues with the key programming machine and it took a long time to get it to work. Turns out they didn't have a single bed room available, so I got two beds. No problem. But it was on the second floor, with no elevator and no way to use a luggage cart up the stairs, and I had a huge bag and cooler so it took two trips to lug everything into the room. Which the first key programming didn't work, so technically three trips... Because they were trying to dry the hallway paint the heat was cranked. The room was over 100° and the fridge wasn't turned on. Took about 3 hours to cool down, and we never even unloaded the cooler (Yay for free ice). I got in the room by 9:30 and thought we would order something by delivery since I don't know the area. We couldn't find anyone that would deliver there. We ate crackers and cheese for dinner. I wanted to take a nice long soak after the day we were having, but the tub clearly was not something that got remodeled and there was some ancient grime. Passable for a shower, but I didn't want to sit in it. The tv only showed snow. I didn't bother calling the office, i just used my phone. The alarm clock on the nightstand didn't have an indicator light when I turned the alarm on, so I didn't trust it. I asked for a wake up call. It came an hour late, 45 mins before checkout. I will say it was quiet, and clean except the icky tub. But had I known there were paint fumes I would have stayed somewhere else. I got a sore throat, and I was worried about my dog. She has epilepsy and I was afraid the fumes would set off a seizure. I understand remodeling, so I didn't mind the messy spots. But overall there were a lot of negatives.
