Slipping…
Lazy Dog Restaurant & BarThis restaurant used to be 5-stars but it seems the shininess of being new has wore off. Dogs are allowed on their partially covered patio, but where they are losing points is on their removal of the dog menu (available if you know to ask for it) and on subpar customer service tendencies.
For example, on a Monday afternoon after the lunch rush, they were telling guests it was a 30 minute wait to be seated. With a perfect view of the patio, we could see they had 10 available tables and when we did finally get seated, no previous guest had departed. The staff’s attentiveness has also declined and it appears they are just going through the motions.
The food is mostly good, although my wife got the most boring unseasoned and dried out chicken club I have ever tasted.
The DC spot, not in DC
Stone Tower WineryThe vineyard is probably the largest and fanciest closest to the DC metro area. As a result, it frequently gets packed.
The property is primarily split into two parts, the family/pet friendly older barn area, and the California-esque main tasting room and patio.
The barn area is nice in that dogs are allowed inside in case you need shade or to escape a rain shower. The nicer area as an expansive patio with a nice view, but the stones do get very hot on a summer day for your pets paws.
No off leash area unfortunately compares to 8 Chains North Vineyard, but worth the visit at least once.
River!
Three Fox VineyardsOverall this vineyard is great for dogs.
There is not a lot of interior space but dogs are welcome inside and out. The biggest attraction is the available space and river. While dogs are "supposed" to be on leash at all times, you frequently see dogs frolicking in the large grass field near and in the river. I have only been when a couple other guests were there so it wasn't an issue but it could be tougher on busier day. The only short falls are the lack of small bites, a designed off-leash area, and more casual than most vineyards/wineries in the area.
Lets be honest....
Leesburg Dog Park at Olde Izaak Walton ParkThis is a solid dog park. Notice that the only ratings below 3-bones are due to people's actions, not the park itself. The same bad experiences you may have here, are a potential at all dog parks
For the facillities themselves-
+Plenty of parking
+Two areas for different sized dogs
+Good size
+Lots of visitors coming in and out
+Well-maintained
+Water hose and cleaning area before you hop back in the car
-No agility items except a picnic table the dogs like to jump on to
-No exceptional features (stream/river, food service, etc.)
In general, this is an above average park for the area.
4.7ish
Barrel Oak Winery & BreweryThe only thing this place is missing is an off-leash dog park. Otherwise, welcome to dogs inside and out with available treats for your pooch.
Dogs allowed but...
Greenhill Winery & VineyardsSort of the normal for vineyards/wineries: dogs allowed outside on a leash and water bowls available on request. Good, but not great compared to other dog friendly vineyards.
Tough...
MELT Gourmet CheeseburgersThis is a tough one to review.
Melt is undoubtedly awesome when it comes to its burgers (continually rated the best in Loudoun), shakes, and sides. It is also awesome in how they advertise adoptable pets with posters throughout the interior and donate large amounts of money to animal shelters and rescues annually.
However, solely on the basis of "bringing-fido", there is only one outdoor table making this location not a great place to bring your dog unless you're lucky to get that one table. If you bring your dog, you run that risk that you may need to leave them in the car and get the food to go. It's better than a restaurant that has no tables outside, but not much.
Surprised!
Wicket Door PubI was surprised to not have found this restaurant already on BringFido, so I HAD to add it!
*I don't like to give inflated ratings. Some restaurants have patios and provide water, but that isn't 5-bone worthy when there are places like Wicket Door that blow them out of the water on dog friendliness.
1) Wicket Door has a decent sized uncovered patio. Dogs are not allowed inside (I would make this a 4.9 if I could)
2) They provide iced water for your furry friend
3) They have a SEPARATE menu for dogs - Patio Pup Menu. Entries include salmon, brown rice, and peas; angus chuck beef patty, brown rice, and apple slices; or simply brown rice.
4) They have deserts for your dog such as a Pineapple Pupsicle made with pineapple and peas frozen in a pork stock. A Mango Pupsicle with mango and carrots frozen in chicken stock. Or a Puppiccino which is vanilla whipped cream.
5) The back of the Patio Pup Menu has a mosaic of dog photos. Those are the dogs of the employees that work at Wicket Door Pub!
Dogs?
LightfootBeen here several times and I would not consider this restaurant to be dog friendly. The restaurant is on the higher-end and the majority of seating is inside. Another review said there is an outdoor space which I have never seen, but this restaurant is primarily a dinner location (they don't even open until noon).
5-Bones
8 Chains North WineryThere are a lot of vineyards in the area, but few that allow dogs inside and have an off-leash fenced dog park. For vineyards/wineries, this place gets 5-bones.
Bouncing off Rocks
Billy Goat TrailOur labrador loves navigating these trails...almost like a dog slalom.
So and so...
Nando's Peri-Peri ChickenNot a large patio. Tables are condensed and close to each other limiting ”leash space”. Nothing super accommodating.
Good, but not great
Bar LouieCool restaurant but not exceptionally dog friendly. Very small patio space available and no dog entrees on the menu. They do provide water if there is room to get a patio seat...
