Neat old building but not too secure

I loved that the building is over 100 years old, however, the fact that the proprietor doesn’t lock the door at the base of the stairs and the deadbolt into our room barely worked wasn’t too endearing. Add to that all of the cracks in the ceiling, the mystery cord that plugs into one room and disappears the wall into the next room, and the toilet paper handle that broke off… made for an interesting night. We put the rickety chair and a suitcase under the doorknob to secure it. Oh, the soap provided, was a thin strip that felt like sandpaper and did not foam up at all. There was some shampoo and soap left that appeared to have been the previous tenant’s property. Did not feel comfortable using that. One really nice thing? The mattress… super soft.
