Not The Best Experience

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Colorado Springs Garden of the Gods

Context: passing through for one night after 8+ hours of driving, have one pup with me.

To start, I was solicited by a trio of homeless individuals in the lot trying to bum cigarettes off of people entering the building. Dang near all the lights in the parking lot were flickering like a horror film. The surrounding area was not too well lit either. The exterior of the building looks very old and dilapidated. The room itself was mediocre, nothing noteworthy about it (good or bad). Pup relief area was littered with trash and poop; had to watch very carefully where the pup and I were stepping. The staff was completely emptying/renovating another room until about 9:30-10:00 pm, and they were not quiet about it. They also left all trash and components that were removed right in the central courtyard, so it wasn't exactly safe to walk the dog through the area. And the facility claims to be smoke-free, but I saw numerous individuals smoking everywhere but the designated smoking area in the parking lot.

Ideally, would never stay here again..

Great Location, Clean Room, Affordable

La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Santa Fe

Context: Stayed one night on my way through town, have one pup.

Location (5/5): Pretty much shares a parking lot with a shopping plaza, so you can walk there and check it out if you're bored. Plus, at the far side of the plaza is a dog park and walking trail entrance. Right off a main road.

Room (5/5): Clean room, clean bathroom, great water pressure, comfortable bed.

Pup Relief Area (3.5/5): A bit of debris/trash/poop in the area. They do provide poop bags and a trash can. Alternatively, a dog park is just on the far side of the shopping center parking lot.

Would happily stay here again

Great Location and Affordable

Rodeway Inn & Suites

Context: Passing through town, stayed for one night, have one puppy, switched rooms due to door issue mentioned below, didn't shower (from driving exhaustion), pretty much went straight to bed.

Safety (2.5/5): Normally this isn't a huge concern for me. However, when I opened the door to my first room I noticed the profile of the door was splintered. Upon entering, I found the deadbolt and the nails holding it to the frame right on the floor in front of me as if somebody had kicked in the door (and possibly succeeded)! I was switched to another room with an intact deadbolt/door. The building itself is located off of a well-lit main road. So yeah, negative points for door integrity and leaving sharp things on the floor; plus points for having a well-lit parking lot and being in a decent area.

Cleanliness: (2/5): Carpets in both rooms were stained pretty bad. Shower had light rust stains. There was a slew of finger/toe nail clippings at the bedside which were completely missed when/if they vacuumed. Outside lot and pup relief areas were clean enough to not warrant concern.

Location (5/5): Less than 5 minutes away (driving) from a shopping plaza area with quite a few common chain restaurants and a Walmart and Sam's Club. The road is very well illuminated and has a large sidewalk that runs alongside it. Great spot to take the pup(s) for a walk.
