Pet policy changed

It was a nice place. When we booked the pet policy was that we could leave our pet in the room unattended but had to let the front desk know so they could contact if there was an issue. We thought well we will b able to let our dog sleep or something while we go and eat. When we checked in we had to sign a pet policy that said if we are caught leaving our pet alone in the room that we would be asked to leave the motel without a refund. I think if they changed there policy then I should have been notified. I wouldn't leave my dog alone for long but that changed our whole plans for the week.
