A great place for dogs and humans to stay
TownePlace Suites by Marriott Chicago NapervilleSince I have two dogs and a handicapped husband, I asked for and received a room on the ground floor near an exit. The suite was perfect for us. Right behind the hotel is a lovely walking path around a pond. I took the digs out there several times. My only complaint is other guests who did not clean up after their dogs. I noticed that the hotel supply of poop bags was empty in two locations which might have contributed to the problem. I always carry a supply of poop bags in my pocket, so I was prepared! I did tell the desk clerk about the issue, but nothing was done while I was there. I hope the hotel doesn’t have second thought about accepting dogs because of this issue as I highly recommend this hotel for dog owners.
Solid 4 bones
Magnolia GrilleI had the special for the evening which was a prime rib sandwich on a hoagie with au jus and french fries. The "au jus" was cream gravy - quite tasty but not what I expected. I enjoyed the honey pear sangria, but, surprisingly, the pecan pie wasn't as good as I had hoped. It had too many pecans and not enough filling for my taste. I still ate every bite! They have a nice, large, partially covered patio, and the server brought water for my dogs right away. She also told me that they have started having music outside on Saturdays. We may go back Saturday and listen!
Delicious!
The Dunedin SmokehouseThre was a huge Art Fair in Dunedin the day I stopped here. My dogs and I were hot and exhausted, and when I saw other dogs on the patio, I hurried over to the Smokehouse. We were fortunate enough to get a tale in the shade near a strong fan - heaven! The busboy immediately poured some water into a container I provided. It was too hot for a heavy meal, so I got the Cobb salad with some pulled pork added to it. The salad was tasty, and I enjoyed tasting the three different BBQ sauces that were on the table. There was enough food for me to take home some in a box. The server mentioned their pecan pie was homemade, so I ordered it. I was delighted I took her suggestion as it was excellent and served with two scoops of ice cream!
Wonderful meal!
Peggy O's Kitchen & TapsWe ended up at Peggy O's because the restaurant across the street was full. However, we were delighted we stayed! They have a huge outdoor patio with over a dozen tables. The server told us the menu was new that day and recommended the Fried Green Tomatoes with Shrimp as an appetizer. It was delicious! I had a "Build Your Own Burger," and my husband had Bangers and Mash. We were both pleased with our meals. Our dogs were given a bucket of water shortly after we sat down. I would happily return!
Good breakfast
Flap Jacks Pancake HouseI had breakfast here on a very busy Sunday afternoon. They weren't allowing people to sit outside because there was such crowd inside, but when they saw my dog, the manager okayed it. Under those circumstances, I thought I might be ignored, but the service was excellent. I ordered the 2X2X2 - two eggs, two pancakes (or one waffle for a dollar more which is what I ordered), and sausage or bacon. My poached eggs were perfect; the waffle was tasty as was the sausage. Nothing special but good and filling. The server didn't offer Dickens any water, but I noticed an empty bowl on the patio. She was probably just too busy as I overheard people leaving say the wait time inside was 45-55 minutes!!
Not much room outside
The Pint and BrewThere are only 3 small tables outside this restaurant so seating is limited. The menu is quite limited, too, as they serve various kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches and different kinds of macaroni and cheese! Their beer selection is extensive, however. I had to go inside to order, and when I mentioned dogs, the server immediately brought them a bowl of water. My husband and I both had grilled cheese - mine was plain and his had several components. We were both happy with our choice!
Very little room for dogs
Gino'sCalling this dog friendly is a stretch as there are only 2 tables outside the restaurant. However, my husband said the Italian wedding soup and seafood pasta were excellent! I had baked ravioli which was fine but nothing special. I though we might bee forgotten since we were outside and the indoor portion of the restaurant was crowded, but our waiter was very attentive. He didn’t Offer to bring water for the dogs which is the first time this has happened in Palm Harbor. They must have great pizza as their take out service was extremely busy!
Good food and nice view
Olde Bay CafeThis restaurant is located in the Dunedin marina and has a lovely view of the sunset over the water. Our server immediately brought a bowl of water for our dogs and knelt there petting and talking to them. I had a grouper taco and their shrimp and corn chowder soup. Both were delicious! My husband said his crab cake was the best he’d eaten while on vacation. Go early for dinner - it gets crowded and dogs are only allowed on the porch.
