No Covid safety during Delta spike
Candlewood Suites Cincinnati Northeast-Mason an IHG HotelHappy to get last minute reservation while traveling with my dog. Absolutely shocked that none of staff wore masks inside with Delta variant spiking at this time. I never saw anymore in the hotel wearing a mask in public spaces. It was a less than 24 hour stay and a 4 hour drive home or I would have just left hotel. I disinfected my room and kept a mask on outside my room but it felt surreal to be in a hotel with absolutely no Covid safety other than dots on floor for social distancing..
When I called in advance I was told dogs stayed on the first floor. I am glad not to have gotten a room on the first floor as the side door right by the guest rooms was not locked even at night. I was given a room on an upper floor by the elevator. My dog did not fare well as all the hallway noise scared him. At check in, I was asked questions about my dog such as name, type, weight and a number in case my dog disturbed others. There is a page of rules they hand out regarding the dog and a form to sign about noise between 9 pm and 9 am. Not unreasonable.
I was thankful to have a hotel that took my dog. I left him crated in the room for a few hours. He seemed to have barked a bit and I was thankful no one complained. I am not giving hotel just 1 bone because at least my dog could stay. He does not seem to have been quiet while I was away and the hotel did not say anything. There are grassy areas nearby so potty was not an issue. I did not see potty bags. If I had not had a dog I probably would not have stayed here given my concerns with lack of Covid protection. But I am thankful to have rested a bit and the ability to leave my dog in the room alone for a few hours.
