Could be Great but Gross
Love's Travel StopWe stopped here on a Saturday night with our 2 Labradors. There had been a bit of rain earlier in the day but the fenced area had real grass so it wasn’t particularly muddy. Oddly it was in the middle of a half acre plot of grass which meant you had a long walk through the grass to get inside the fence. It is not lighted so do not plan to use the park after dark unless you bring your own light which is what we did. To our horror, there was poop everywhere. The rain had turned it all to mush, but it was obvious that no one in management has given the dog park any attention. There is a bag and trash can station which can only leave us to wonder what is wrong with people who don’t pick up their dogs’ poop!
Dogs are Okay at this Bar
Harold and Lillian'sIf you like a good “dive bar” and have your dogs with you, this is the place for you. At 96* outside, it was too hot to sit on the porch. Our 2 chocolate labs were welcomed, on leashes of course, inside while we had a drink. Reminiscent of an old midwestern bar, there is a pool table and foosball game for entertainment.
Festive Holiday Dog Lunch
The MorrisonWe took our 3 kids and dog to lunch at The Morrison. We were greeted warmly and got to sit at a table in the nice, heated, outdoor patio. There was a Happy Hour going on with deals on drinks and yummy food. The wait staff was great and the food was excellent. They had a lot of solid drink options. The highly decorated patio was fun. Our dog had a great time.
Eat in the patio with your 4 legged friends.
Boatyard PubWe love coming here for lunch after a morning at the beach. our dogs are always welcome on the patio. The food isn’t cheap but it is excellent. The staff is super friendly.
Worth Stopping During I-40 Travel
Barkmaster Dog ParkIf your dogs need a break while traveling through Flagstaff, this dog park is 5 minutes off the freeway at the back of Bushmaster Park. You will have to walk your dog around on the sidewalk to the back side of the fence to reach the gate. There is a covered picnic table and lots of agility features. There is a water fountain for humans and dogs. Big pine trees provide shade. We were happy that visitors have kept poop picked up. There are OK park restrooms next to the parking and lots of trash cans to make everyone’s visit more comfortable.
Loves Dog Park needs More Love
Love's Travel StopThis could be a great little dog park. It is very conveniently located. (There is only one section for all size dogs unlike one of the other reviews said) The problem is that it is is filled with poop which no one has picked up. While traveling across the country with our dogs, we are responsible to always pick up after our boys. Maybe the empty poop bag dispenser needs refilling or maybe Loves needs to add a scooper inside the gate. Maybe other owners don’t care… hope not.
Fun and Friendly Dog Park
Dog Park at Rio Grande Triangle ParkThis large dog park is worth the 7 minute drive off the I-40. It is large and clean. We went in the morning with our 2 labs and met a friendly group of locals. There is shade, chairs, benches, water, toys, artificial grass area. There is a small dog section at the far end. Plenty of bags and trash cans were also available.
Not as clean as we hoped
Cooters Pond Dog Park at Cooters Pond ParkThis dog park is conveniently located from our hotel in Prattville, while we were there visiting family, so we decided to take our 2 Labs for some playtime. It is at the far end of Cooter Pond Park. There is only one area for both large or small dogs, but it is very large. We were highly disappointed to find that the park was full of poop which had not been picked up. Not cool!!! There was no scooper for people to use and the 2 poop bag dispensers were on the furthest ends of the park. Being such a hot and humid climate, I suppose that people don’t want to bother walking all that distance to get a bag and if they did, probably couldn’t find where their dog did his business. If you go, bring your own bag and watch your step.
Great Park
Fenway's Dog ParkWe stopped at the dog park at the back of MossWright Park as we were traveling from out of state. It was a beautiful spot for our 2 labs to run around and there were several other friendly people and dogs there. If we lived in Goodlettsville we would make this dog park a regular stop.
Easy off and on I-40
Dog Park at Heward ParkThis great little dog park is the perfect place to stop for lunch if you are traveling across AZ. Dogs can run around and there is shade. There are some rather large holes which some former dogs have dug, so you will need to watch your step. You will have to bring your own water. There are shaded picnic tables outside the fenced area. Heads up, there are no human bathrooms here.
Great Dog Park Near Hotels
Spike's Desert Dog ParkWe stopped for the night at Quality Inn with our 2 labs. The dog park was literally a 2 minute drive. It was an amazing grassy oasis for our boys to run around after being in the car all day. Even though it was 100 degrees out, it is a dry heat and not as bad as we had anticipated.
