    A lot to explore.

Our boys became Bark Rangers here, we could explore the town and see a lot of the people and buildings from President Hoover's upbringing. The sidewalks in the recreated town are wooden slats and got really hot in the summer, but there is grass right next to it so their paws were okay. In the back of the park there is a nice prairie trail and more history. This was one of the more friendly Bark Ranger experiences we had, very grateful! We've gone a few times now

Learn history and enjoy a walk

Beautiful well-maintained National Historic Site where leashed dogs are welcome on trails, though not inside buildings.

Nice place to take a walk

I recently moved to Iowa and live close to this Historic Site. I come here a lot with my dog. It’s a nice, safe place to walk and my dog can sniff around while I read the podiums outside the buildings. This place would also be good for people traveling through. It’s right off the interstate and there’s restrooms in the visitor center and a few near the picnic areas.
