Cape Lookout National Seashore, spanning 56 miles of North Carolina's Outer Banks, offers an array of pet-friendly activities including beach strolling, shelling, fishing and birding on its undeveloped barrier islands. A six-foot leash is required to explore all areas. You'll have to get there by boat, though, so be sure to check which ferries allow dogs before your trip.
