Valparaiso Kennel Club Dog Show

VALPARAISO KENNEL CLUB AKC DOG SHOW PLANNED The Valparaiso Kennel Club will be hosting it's annual AKC dog show at the Porter County Exposition & Fairgrounds Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October, 26. This year the judging will be held indoors at the Expo's Main Exposition Hall. The show runs each day from 8:00 a.m. - 4: 00 p.m. Parking is free and the show entry fee is $2.00 per person or $5.00 for an entire family. There will be food available on site as well as pet supply vendors. No unentered dogs will be allowed on the grounds. We are pleased to have exhibitors from across the Midwest showing AKC recognized and eight miscellaneous rare breeds of dogs. Each handler will be having their dog “strut their stuff “ in the ring competing for Best of Breed and ultimately for “Best in Show”. We welcome you to out early and watch how your favorite dog gets groomed and ready for the show ring. Pick out your favorite dogs and watch them go for the blue! Attending an AKC dog show is a good opportunity for the public to see and meet over 140 different breeds of dogs as well as their breeders who would help determine whether a certain breed would be a good fit in a particular family’s home. Information about the Valparaiso Kennel Club, it's membership, activities and service to the community will be available. In recognition of Veterans Day our show this year will honor our country’s Veterans as well as the U.S. Military working dogs. The Honor Guard from the local American Legion will present the colors each morning. The Valparaiso Kennel Club is again honored to have John A. Meeks, Executive Director of the United States War Dogs Association, Chapter 3, to our dog show this year. Mr. Meeks, a former Scout dog handler who served in Vietnam, has dedicated his life to educating the public on the history of the military dogs in war and how they serve their handlers while savings thousands of lives of our American troops. In July of this year Mr. Meeks was awarded the Bronze Star Medal of Honor for his heroic actions while serving in Vietnam. He has relentlessly been fund raising to supply our military dogs, many who are used for IED detection, with much needed equipment. Please stop by the American War Dog booth during the show and meet and talk with John- he would be grateful for any help you can give to support this most worthy cause.
