  A Bad Best Western

  We have used BringFido exclusively for travel with our dog since 2020. This last trip was the worst by far (Best Western Bakersfield). We arrived at 4pm and were told the water would be off starting at 8am! When asked why we were not warned ahead of check-in the desk said that they had no way to get in touch with us (is this true?). Also, the entire area was filthy (including the rooms) - flies swarming and intense smelling cleaning chemicals - was told they just polished furniture? I would not recommend staying here and suggest that BringFido take this location off their list! And just for the record, BringFido has been a great service and there are plenty of Best Westerns that are not like this one. The one bone is only for this Bakersfield location.

  Convenient to I-5

  The Heritage Inn merits a about B, if I were to assign a grade to it. Quiet, clean rooms but nothing fancy. Beds were okay, not super comfortable, but ok. I like the plank flooring much better than carpet. Fresh fruit in reception which was nice. We didn’t do the breakfast so I can’t comment on that. Limited eating options at that exit but five miles north on I-5 there are more options.

  Decent, clean hotel

  Close to I-5. Breakfast was a decent selection. The pet area is artificial turf, and relatively small for larger dogs. Noisy A/C unit. The staff was friendly. The room was clean. We stayed during the summer so crickets were everywhere.

  Decent stay

  Very strong air freshener smell, very noisy AC unit. Otherwise decent accomodations, friendly reception, good selection of breakfast items.

  Easy and clean

  Right off the freeway, friendly, clean place for a quick night's rest. The formal grassy dog area is small but there was plenty of space around the hotel to walk them as needed.

  Very Noisy

  The staff was very friendly and nice. The room was clean. That said, it was incredibly noisy. This was located right off I-5 and it felt like the trailer trucks going by were in the room with us. Dogs could never quite settle down due to the noise level. Also, there was a very small patch of grass for the dogs to relieve themselves. I would not recommend.

  Clean but terrible highway noise

  My dog was nervous and barking all night because the highway is right next to this hotel, so it was loud and there was a low rumble the entire night. The poor pup was completely uncomfortable.

  Like trying to sleep on a recetrack

  Directly on the highway, extremely loud and impossible to sleep. Ended up waking up at 3am and just leaving. Stay somewhere else.

  Big Clean Rooms

  Pros: Large Clean Room on the first floor, Pet area was close by and clean. Staff was helpful and Friendly.
  Cons: It is right next to I-5 so if you are a light sleeper might not be best for you.

  Clean and roomy

  Like that it was clean and roomy room with plenty of floor space for three dogs. It would be a five bone rating except there were water pressure issues and the grassy area for dogs to use is very small.

  Great location right off I-5

  The beds were nice, room was clean, and the staff was friendly, but the room (116) smelled of cat urine.

  Not ideal for big or territorial dogs

  This hotel did not have exterior room entry so we had to bring our large, anxious, territorial dog through the lobby to access our room. It was challenging since there were other dogs in the hallways. Also, the room was carpeted so there were lots of other dog smells, which was a trigger for our dog. It was hard for him to relax. Not an ideal setup for our situation.

  Very good hotel

  Staff was friendly, pool was a little suspect (water looked green). Room was nice. The problem is their air conditioning could not fight the heat so it was a difficult night of sleeping.

  Location off highway, clean and comfortable

  Customer service was exceptional, was very clean, and was right off the highway, next to Subway and gas stations! Highly recommend!

  Great Staff

  Both Morning and evening staff were absolutely exceptional. The dog area outside was beautiful green grass and even had a shade tree. The hotel is near but not on the freeway and once the door was closed you could not hear any traffic. The room had been recently refurbished, completely clean with excellent coffee and coffee maker in the room. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars though because the bed was so hard I woke with a terrible back ache. Even my husband who is not a picky sleeper said the mattress was awful. I would have loved to give the place 5 plus stars because everything else, including a refrigerator that actually kept things truly cold, was so wonderful. The best I could do was 4 stars though and that was a bit of a stretch due to a terrible mattress.

  The Best Western Heritage Inn is a 3+ Bone BringFido recommendation for us. This was our half way stop between Redding CA and Phoenix AR and there is not much out in this stretch of California. As others have stated, the Best Western Heritage Inn is right off I-5 & next to a huge truck stop w/ lots of bare dirt.
  I made the reservation earlier in the day thru the BF app with a request in the note section for a ground floor unit. When we arrived they hadn’t received the request and said there was not a pet friendly ground floor room available. Ok then, how about a 2nd floor room near an elevator? No elevators. We ended up on the second floor corner room near an outside concrete hall & staircase. The room was sparsely decorated, but smelled fresh, clean and was well supplied. The windows had very nice blackout window coverings. Good choice as the lights from the neighboring truck stop and freeway traffic was all night long. Unfortunately the curtains didn’t help with the noise so much. To be fair, it was muffled and more like background noise, something to get used to. I appreciated the safety of a very well lit parking lot. The staff was friendly and thorough, the take-away sack breakfast was appreciated,’filled with breakfast pastries, bars yogurt, canned fruit cup.
  Overall, not a WOW but positive.

  Good Stopover on I5

  The people were nice and the location was ideal for a stopover on our way from Las Vegas to the Bay Area. Gas stations and some low cost food options within walking distance. A little place for dogs to go potty and bags for guest use.

  The room was good. Appeared to be clean and was comfortable enough for two adults, two kids, and a 65lb. Hound mix. Had a funny smell and I lost my sense of taste because of it. I couldn’t tell if it was a wet dog smell or sanitizer. To be fair, it didn’t seem to bother my wife and kids.

  I’d stay again is I need to stop between two points.

  Noisy and busy

  Didn't realize this hotel was right off the freeway and next to a truck stop. The noise never stopped all night long. There's also no restaurants except Jack in the box near it. Glad we found a better hotel for our 2nd night in Bakersfield

  Bone-us

  Bakersfield in general seems to have a distinct odor which permeated the bathroom. Not great. There was a puppy area by the stairs but no elevator and we were on the second floor. Did have breakfast and low pet fee, but overall, not really worth stopping. Also, getting there was an issue as the area was blocked by trucks.

  If you want to walk your pup, there is an abandoned lot, and a dirt path behind the hotel that will serve the purpose.

  Dirty, smelly, all around nasty.

  Not much to add other than the title. The room literally smelled like a corpse was there. The bathroom had 5 spiders in it and the shower rod kept falling. Don’t bother here...
