The bed was comfortable, the administration great. Google Maps might take you about 1/2 mile short of the hotel, but just go forward a little and turn left at the Waffle House if it's on your right. If you're coming the other direction and Google Maps isn't clear where to turn, turn right at the Waffle House instead. It's almost right across the road from Waffle House, behind a few things.

While I wasn't expecting a 3-bones experience (just needed a place to take a break for a few hours), the floor/carpet should have been cleaner for a "deluxe" room. It was too dirty to let my dog sleep on the floor and then there was a smoke smell. The bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. Two bones overall. Will not stop here next time.

Super close to the highway for easy morning departure out of Charleston. Accessible grass patches for my pooch. Adequately clean and good price.

Will never stay again. we were desperate to find a dog friendly hotel to split our 12 hour trip home and the local La Quinta had horrible recent review about not being dog friendly since the chain was purchased.
pros
they didn't charge us for our dog nor did they enforce the 60lbs max limit. Our girl is 75-80lbs.Cons:
-the room smelled like weed. i called and spoke to someone about the room and their policies because of serve breathing issues. They told me about cleaning with an ozone machine and other policies to ensure a smoke (even weed) free stay. Thank god i traveled with my home sized hepa filter and own bedding.
-the mini fridge was barely working
-the bed was slightly better than sleeping on a floor.
-they barely have a dog potty area and i found glass in multiple places.
-my dog stepped in something inky/tar like while trying to go potty. I had to scrub her paws then the floor because because it would not come off with just a wet paper towel.We also ran into someone that didn't leash their dogs there, not the hotels fault but just added to a rough night.

The location is somewhat confusing as there is a Econo Lodge also next door. The people hanging around the entrance of the Econo Lodge were sketchy. Definetly a tweaker on the curb passed out. The Red Roof has not disappointed in the past, but this was pretty gross. The room itself was fithy - a smashed cricket that had been there for a bit, pubes in the shower, and over all dirt on the floor. Upon arriving the light was even on in the room. Clearly not sanitized or for all that mater swept/vacummed in this COVID era. In addition, the room lock battery that operates the door appeared to be dying and proved challenging to enter after several attempts. The windows were dirty and I killed a roach in the bathtub in the early morning when I went to pee. The room was non smoking but smelled like an ashtray. I informed the front desk immediately that it smelled like smoke and was dirty and the front desk simply did nothing to acknowledge. The wall strip lighting decor was peeling and non functioning. We slept in our sleeping bags and rolled out in the morning.

So very convenient as far as the location. The building itself is rundown and there seemed to be some weekly renters who were less than stellar and some homeless people living by the dumpster. Aside from that... the staff was VERY FRIENDLY and the room was clean as a whistle, the ice machine worked. No laundry facilities and do not go to the laundromat on mccorkle. All in all it was fine and Hazel (the dog) was cozy and had room to go potty around the back.

We stayed one night. Check in was fast and easy. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was good. We had a "deluxe" room, with microwave and refrigerator. It was a bit noisy early in the night, with people coming and going, and that made my dog a bit skittish. In addition, the motel is right next to the freeway, so I recommend earplugs for the humans. There is not a huge grassy area for dog-business and many people had not picked up after their pooches, so watch your step.
