Go to Southern Oaks instead

I don’t know how I missed the reviews and pictures for Southern Oaks but I wish we would’ve stayed there instead. There is a small area here for walking the dogs and our room is quite large. The staff is nice enough and the breakfast is adequate. But, we had no hot water in our shower despite telling the person at the desk 3 times. He always said he would notify someone - but to my knowledge no one ever even looked at it. Same thing when we asked for clean towels. He made a note of it but luckily that afternoon we saw the cleaning lady and asked her.

The sign at the desk stated that if you want your room cleaned while you’re there you must notify 24 hours in advance. Also the room was quite dated, not in a quaint historic way, like old furniture and decor. The couch was sagging and stained. I didn’t want to sit on it until I put a blanket over it. The pool area was nice, the water was too cold to swim but it was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy looking at the water. I thought the decor in the room was interesting for a Florida hotel since it depicted snow scenes- I guess so you realize what you’re getting away from by being in Florida? We were there for 4 nights.

Friendliest Staff Ever!

The staff went above and beyond, they went out of their way to be friendly and make the guests feel welcomed.

Not Great!

The desk clerk did not wear a mask when we checked in. A different desk clerk on the day we checked out also did not wear a mask. The internet did not work either. We were just there for one night, but the entire time we were there the internet was down. It seemed like a lot of the guests were either locals or members of a large group because they hung around together in the lobby and seemed to be familiar with the desk clerk. The main problem with this is that our room was right off the lobby so it was very noisy. There also was a slight scent of cigarette smoke in the room. I do not recommend this location at all. I gave it one bone because the room was a nice size and the dogs were welcome there- otherwise I would’ve given it a zero!
