Great for a little while....

The Dog Haus

The Dog Haus was really great for the 3-4 months we were bringing our 1 year old pup to daycare. He was a bit anxious at first but the Dog Haus staff worked with him (and us!) to get him on the right track. Within a few weeks he was one of the pack. We really enjoyed taking him to the Dog Haus and noticed the benefits of this weekly socialization right off the bat.

I wish I could give a 5 star review... but I can’t. It’s really too bad how it ended, and I must say I’m quite disappointed/saddened by the approach of the Dog Haus. They noticed within the last few days he was getting overwhelmed at daycare (we recently got another puppy - so the energy at home coupled with the energy at daycare wasn’t working for him). It resulted in him snapping at another puppy. This is very unusual behaviour for him, and the Dog Haus told us they knew it wasn’t aggressive but more of an anxious reaction. However, this was enough for him to get the boot. Now, don’t get me wrong I completely understand the safety of all dogs is priority. However the way the Dog Haus handled this was very concerning and unprofessional. The Dog Haus called us that day, essentially told us to come pick him up and that they would refund the rest of our pre-paid daycare passes. This broke my heart, I can’t tell you how upsetting it was. No second chance, no further explanation - he was no longer welcomed. I reached out to them later that day via email expressing my concerns and asking for advice/tips/tricks/suggestions/literally anything. No response. This is what really hurt - I know how attentive and quick their office coordinator is to respond (from past experience) and it clearly showed that my email had been disregarded.

No dog parent is perfect, I would hope the Dog Haus of all businesses would understand that. My spouse and I have been dedicated to our dog’s socialization, training and overall happiness! And the Dog Haus completely ghosted us, without an explanation of what we were doing wrong. I’m extremely sad, hurt and disappointed in their lack of response regarding our pup.
