Dog friendly but must be on a leash. We spent a 2 hours here with our dog, walking along the water front, watching a few yachts pass-by. There are a few majestic trees for shade, a grassy area for frisbee or picnics and benches. This is a great spot to allow your pup to stretch her legs and meet new friends. Please be aware, although several families were walking their dogs on the fishing pier, it is posted that dogs are not allowed on the pier. Also if you decide the stroll onto the pier with your dog, please be aware of fishing hooks on the ground as people are actively fishing.

Our pup had so much fun playing on the beach. Dogs have plenty of space to play. We went in March, so the beach wasn’t too busy. We will definitely return during our spring break!

Great beach for dogs after summer especially, Flipp island is also awesome for those looking as well.

Dog Approved, just watch for other dogs that are not leashed who are aggressive

Great location and accommodating to our boxer, Maddy, this was our first time here, will definitely be back! Very clean beach with great access. The tide pools offered fun for Maddy, which helps in monitoring the amount of ocean water she laps up. She’s bad about biting at the waves and getting the salt water squirts! Even saw a guy riding a horse on the beach!

You know what they say, one bad apple ruins the bunch. I’m not good enough to go off leash and unfortunately we experienced too many off leash dogs without good manners or who aren’t under control. The beaches are great! Very pet friendly and lots of space. So much fun to walk the surf and some of the long sand bars. It seemed like most hoomans picked up after their dogs. It’s too bad we aren’t allowed on the beach during prime hours in the summer.
- AlexMore than a year agoWeekend before memorial day is off limits!
If you try to go the weekend before memorial day, you and pet are not allowed on the beach - even if the signs say you are. We were chased down by officials and told to leave immediately. I referenced the sign which said they were allowed until Memorial day, and they said it included the weekend before Memorial day. Go to Jekyll Island instead :-). Otherwise, it's a nice dog-friendly beach if you avoid the weekend before Memorial Day.

I can't believe how few people have rated this beach. The town is packed with dog owners many of which are Northerners who have fled here to get out of the cold. The beach is great for dogs (yes off season off leash) with tide pools to splash in at low tide and miles of beaches to walk. The walkers respect the beach and the county provides plenty of trash cans to dump your dogs droppings. The town is quaint and has a wonderful history and restaurants. It is not as warm as the Florida beaches but the laid back lifestyle and great places to walk (main roads have sidewalks to get downtown) are just the right ticket for dog owners. The town caters to dog owners and makes an effort to make you feel welcome. This is my first year here and my second month, I will be back next year.
