- AnnAug 30, 2018Nice little park, worth a stop by
We visited Aug 2018. We are happy to find that this park was free. Has two drinking fountains. Poopie bags were fully stocked. We had no trouble with big dogs on the small dog side. Owners minded their dogs, which is not true of many other dog parks. It seems to be about 1 acre big--big enough to throw a ball in. It would get 5 stars if they fixed the one gate instead of just have a mesh metal grate propped up against it. It has grass, not a thick lawn. Entrances are all loose dirt, so your feet will get dirty if you have sandals on. We had fun!

With Traverse City being such a beautiful place to visit, I was surprised at the size and maintenance of this dog park. The location is right in town, so I expected it to have more grass and to look better taken care of. It just seemed odd for the town it is in. That being said, our pup had a great time running around with the other dogs and I would bring him back.

We visited this park before making the 4 hour drive home so that our dog could run off some of her energy. It was nice that there were benches and shade for the owners and a dog height water fountain for her to drink from. We were in the large dog area and all of the other dogs and owners there were very friendly!
- FRUSTRATEDMore than a year agoIgnorant and rude BIG DOG owners
This dog park for small dogs, 25# and UNDER is CONSTANTLY filled with large dogs! Labs, lab mixes, golden retrievers, pit bulls etc are brought into the small dog side and the owners are claiming: "Oh my (BIG) dog wouldn't hurt a thing". They are ignorant of dog behavior and the fact that there is a separation for the SAFETY of the small dogs!! My 15# dog was actually chased and bitten at by a 50# black lab mix and the ignorant owner refused to remove her dog. I now cannot let my dog enjoy the dog park for fear of attack by a much larger dog.
I would like to see more respect from large dog owners by keeping their dogs in the proper area.

The region is blessed with state land and large parks. This park fills a niche for both locals and visitors for something smaller--a place to bring their dogs to socialize with other dogs. Also, a great place for people to meet.

The park is very well maintained by the city as well as the patrons. They've recently planted trees to help shade it in the summer.
From my dogs' perspective, they love meeting new canine and human friends! Every visit is a different experience and the people are usually quite respectful and keep an eye on their dogs.
