Found this gem of an island from Bring Fido. (Thank you!). we camped for 2 nights w/ 2 mini Aussies (7 year old Bindi & 1 year old Willow). It was 79 degrees in January. nights were 65 degrees. it was awesome! the best part was after the last ferry leaves and you pretty much have the island to your self in the evening and the morning. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. The island has poo bags at various stations around the island. There were so many garbage cans…and the island was clean! Snorkeling was awesome! The fishing pier is lit up at night and I caught a snook fly fishing! The only problem we had was the puppy is triggered by loud sounds and on the other side of the island is a shipping channel…so we had issues with her on that side of the island. Don’t forget to bring a bowl with you, there are water stations throughout the island. Apparently the island allows all kinds of animals bc one campsite has chickens and a frickin’ rooster. thanks to the frickin’ rooster I got to see the sunrise.

Took a little trip to Peanut Island today near Blue Herron bridge. You catch a boat from Riviera Beach and have nearly 80 acres to explore. The water was very clear and we spotted several iguanas! We took a picnic lunch and found nice shade to enjoy it. Our dog was welcome on the water taxi and he was able to check out the walk ways, water and more.

Just came to Peanut Island for the first time and loved it. My pup got to ride on a boat for the first time on the short 10 minute trip from the mainland. On the island the water is gorgeous and very clear and perfect for pups who love to swim. Dogs just be on lease but there were some people who did not obey, however most people did which is great. Highly recommend coming here for pups who like to swim.

Dog enjoyed riding to the island so many places to explore
- MollyMore than a year agoA great place!
The sandbar at low tide is a great place for dogs. We kayak over and it's a blast with the dog. They have room to run around and play, just make sure you bring poo bags to pick up after your dog!
