This is a great place for a nice long walk with an added bonus of learning about the Mission’s history. There are a lot of trails but you do need to be mindful of poison oak and rattlesnakes like with any hiking in the area. The trails are sandy and can be muddy where the springs run. There is also a wide trail that runs around the area that makes it easier to avoid poison oak. We have been a couple of times and always enjoy our visits.

This mission looks and feels like it could be running just like it did two hundred years ago. the buildings have been very well restored, the docents are kind and very enthusiastic to show how mission life was. The trails are well marked and maintained well. Ground squirrel holes are abundant, so just be attentive. we had a good time and the puppies got a good work out.

Had a great walk through here on a beautiful day. The signs warn you of rattlesnakes, so keep your pet on a short leash and walk slowly through the area. We took an uphill hike to the large cross at the top, then back through where we saw the horses riding. We came back down to the spring house, then to the actual Mission. Pets are not allowed in buildings, but are allowed on the trails. Trail was very narrow and all sand, so your legs get a pretty good workout. Take plenty of water for you and Fido since it is in such a dry, mainly unshaded area. Parking fee: $6; Map fee: $1.

We take our dogs walking around the mission as often as possible. People are very friendly walking around the lower track. This is the best place in Lompoc to walk the dogs great views, peace of mind and wild life. Great coffee shop on South H street.
