Apparently dogs are not allowed at or near the fort anymore. Can't walk around the fort, only allowed on the park trails A bit disappointing since you have to pay to get into the park. The park ranger saw we had a dog and even gave her a treat. I wish she would have said something instead of letting us through and even telling us to check out the guided tour.

There are trails around the park that you can walk your dogs. The dogs were not allowed inside the fort. We were told that was a new rule that went in to effect in 2014. The dogs are not allowed on the beach and are not allowed off leash anywhere. We did find a small area that was not beach that the dogs could at least cool off but not really swim. It cost us $7.00 to enter in our car and we were given a map of the trails.

This was a beautiful park to walk around with amazing views of the ocean and nearby boats. Although dogs are not allowed on the actual beach, they are welcome throughout the rest of the park on a 6-foot leash. This was my only disappointment as the beach was the most secluded, beautiful, and tranquil I saw while on the island so I wished our little one could enjoy the waters. There is a fee for the park, it was not expensive (we walked in and paid $5 total for two humans). Carloads are slightly more expensive if I recall correctly.
